Hi

Just about to book our holiday with Virgin Shop going in November.

1. Will they price match their own online price
2. How much discount can I try for on their final price we are buying holiday and tickets so cost will be about £6.5K all in for 4 people.

any tips before we take the plunge

Chris

best way to get a discount is register online for the virgin atlantic frequent flyers club. That gives a 5% discount on the holiday price. I have had more joy getting the virgin holiday price knocked down at a TC shop than at a virgin one. My local TC shop gave me the flyers discount and managed to get us both cars upped to SUV at no extra cost.

Just be careful of buying the uk tickets - unless we are staying on site at disney (for the meal deal) we now through many previous trips have learned that we get better value for money buying the US tickets as we never spend every day at disney. US tickets through mousesavers link to undercover tourist gives 5 days at parks plus 5 days a water parks (or the other extra stuff) for about £70 less per ticket than the 14 day UK ones. Which is more than enough days for us especially if we are also planning to do any other parks.

Just to add I'm a member of Virgins Frequent Flying Club and could get no discount through VH as my August dates were blacked out! The previous year we got 10% off through VH. Then I heard that the 10% off had been reduced to 7%, so who knows?

We got a really good price with the Virgin shop in House of Fraser, we had to check a few things out first at home and rang them to say go ahead. She checked the price, I wrote it down, then she waffled on a bit and announced a totally different price! I told her that it had just gone up by £350 and she was at a loss as to what she had pressed and couldnt get our original price back.

I didnt book and went and checked out other options. I ended up booking with Travel Counsellors.

Strange- I got the 7% discount (works out as 5% as no dsicount off the tax/ airport and fuel duty parts of the price) for Aug this year.

We were told in our local virgin, under no circumstances were discounts now given in August-there were other black out dates-but we only listened to no for August.

We then booked diy instead.:thumbsup2

Welcome to DISboards
Have you priced up the flights and hotel seperate? £6.5k is a lot of money for 4 people in Nov.
If you want any help post dates & details and we will try help.

TBH even if we had been given 7-10% off DIY still worked out a lot cheaper! So to OP have you looked at DIY as an option instead of a package?

We have visited WDW on numerous occasions always going with virgin holidays either booking on line or by telephone so much so we are frequent virgins giving us a 10% discount. However this year we are taking our usual trip Nov/Dec and booked it ourselves. Booked flight with virgin Atlantic great sale deals(we are flying club) so did get extra discount. Booked hotel by phone with Disney direct upgraded to deluxe also club level for not much more than it would have cost moderate with virgin. A DIYconvert.

Like Wayne says £6.5k is alot of money for November but depends where you are staying. I have been 10 times since 2005 and never booked a package because never seen one that comes close to paying DIY.Theres so many ways to save on total cost. Last year I booked my brother holiday DIY as they came with us for first time. Near enough the exact same holiday was over £5000 more expensive on Virgin holidays, he couldn't believe it but it was there in black and white. The only difference was they they flew indirect instead of direct.
