somebody was saying they read in the Glasgow Herald that Virgin were thinking of starting to fly out of Glasgow in 2007 :confused3

i spoke to customer services today she said it is a big possibility will know 11th may when the new brochure comes out :cool1:

This was mentioned in one of the travel industry magazines a few months ago. Glasgow and Birmingham were stated as being new departure airports for a few VA routes including Orlando! Would be great if it happens! :teeth:

Let's hope that VA do start going from Glasgow, it'll certainly give the new fly globespan a run for their money, eh? :thumbsup2

Audrey :)

This would be very handly for us as well :thumbsup2
we have a direct flight to glasgow from our local airport 1 mile away

:thumbsup2 That will be brilliant if it happens, we were supposed to have flights last year with first choice from Newcastle and they cancelled the 1 month before we went, said not enough seats were being filled on the flight then we found out there was a supplement to fly from Newcastle £199 each!! :lmao: No wonder the seats were not selling!!!! :lmao: We switched our flight to Manchester with no supplement!! :goodvibes Fingers crossed maybe we will be pleasantly surprised :thumbsup2 pixiedust: pixiedust:

Would be great but I won't hold my breath! They have been talking about this for years,we're having to Travel down to Manchester to catch our flights in Sept. Our best one was the year BA were including free conection flights from UK airports - home & unpacked in the time I would have still been driving up the road!!
SD :firefight

From what I have read the service will be very limited dates are 23 Jun to 14 July and 6 to 13 Oct, a weekly service either via or originating in Manchester, so I make that only 6 flights total. It seems they are putting a toe in the water next year. It will be interesting to see what the prices are like and how popular they are now that there is Globespan to compete with and First Choice getting great reviews for their long haul service.

There's certainly the demand for flights out of Scotland. When I was still up there working for Thomas Cook, Orlando was our biggest selling destination.

Great news :)

Va are playing catch up i see. TCD have been flying (747's) from Glasgow since last year.

A Report earlier in the year stated that while trips to florida from England are droping it is the oppoiste in Scotland

This would be great news. The first year we went we got direct flights from Glasgow to Sanford. Every year since we have had to go to either Gatwick/Heathrow.

another thing that bugs me is that there is no flights from end October to beginning of May direct for Scotland to Orlando. Unfortunately, we must go the quickest route and can't do connections due to our DS so effectivley we can't go say at xmas which would be nice.

I see Globespan are doing the flights now into November so maybe they might be the airline that starts Scotland off.
