We are staying at Poly on our upcoming trip. We will be leaving for the airport around 2:00, so we will have the morning to sleep in, finish packing, etc. I don’t want to make a reservation so we can decide what we feel like doing that day. Backup plan if we’re just moving slowly is Captain Cooks or Wailulu, although we’re already planning on trying Wailulu one night for dinner. Is there anything decent at Contemporary or Grand Floridian that would be worth leaving Poly for? There is not direct transportation to Wilderness Lodge, correct? I don’t want to be stressed about getting back on time.

The Bar at Steakhouse71 lower level of Contemporary has great service & food . Not sure about their hours.
Also the monorail is not fast & speedy …
If you can schedule the very latest breakfast reservation at Poly…Kona Cafe…serving breakfast until 11:00 …my absolute favorite is the macadamia nut pancakes! And their breakfast drink specialty
POG Juice ( Liliko’l Juice tropical blend.non-alcoholic ) .
They also have Hawaiian coffee served in the Press Pot to add to your final day of relaxation.

I don't think the food is outstanding, but Gasparilla's at GF is decent and the view of the castle when sitting at an outside table is lovely. There is no direct transportation to WL, but you can boat from MK or even do a Minnie Van/ride share to the resort. The food at Steakhouse 71 bar is very good, I'm just not a fan of the interior of the restaurant as it's very dark in there. If that doesn't bother you, it's a good option. You could also try for a walk-up at Kona if you would rather stay at Poly or even check availability that morning as you may have a few options once you know what you feel like doing.

Last time we stayed at Contemporary I can recall eating lunch at a QS type of place next door to Chef Mickey's but don't recall the name. There was a good variety of items you could choose from and it was arranged cafeteria style. Eating at the airport might be another option if you want to get their early and have time to shop/eat. Most airlines no longer serve food or if they do it's pricey and/or not very good. Larger airports always seem to have a good choice of restaurant options of various types of food.

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is your best bet out of all the places you mentioned. Plenty of places that don’t require reservations. I hear Geyser Point’s quick service has a great bison burger. And yes, you do have to go from monorail to Magic Kingdom before boarding a Disney Transport bus to Wilderness Lodge. You’ll have plenty of time to check out Wailulu another time.

I like the Minnie Van to or from (or both) Geyser Point plan. IMO you need to be a little careful with Disney transportation on a departure day - a 10 minute wait for a monorail here, a 15 minute wait for a WL boat there, and all of a sudden you’ve chewed up some valuable time and your departure hour creeps up on you.

Join the Geyser Point walk up wait list as soon as you get close enough to WL - its location based, usually will start working close to the front entrance.

Have fun!

You can also take a boat from Magic Kingdom or Contemporary Resort to the Wilderness Lodge.
