OK, so now we are back both mine and DH's Virgin flying club accounts have been credited with over 16,000 miles each.....

DH would like to go again next year, I'm not so sure as we have allsorts on this year, house move etc and not sure how our finances will be. I believe that our miles will be valid for 3 years but what is the best way to spend them.

I've had a quick look at the virgin site but using all those miles doesn't seem to reduce the price as much as I had imagined :confused3 Having said that, I did check out the site whilst suffering with jet lag :rotfl2:

16K isn't going to get you much apart from Miles + money at 2k per person.
Depending on when you want to travel this might not save you much as you have seen.

You need 50K for a return miles only to MCO, there is an offer just now for 40K but that doesn't help you much.

20K would get you a companion flight (tax only) if one of you pays full fare.
Maybe look at ways you can get free extra miles. Details are on the website.

20K would get an upgrade to PE but this doesn't save you money.

£75 would buy you an extra 4K miles, maybe worth thinking about.

so long as you have a transaction on your account within 3 years of taking your last flight, then the 16000 miles you have just earned will remain valid.

What about a flying club credit card, if you pay the fee, then you get double miles on whatever you spend. Sometimes too they have special offers on. For example I got an extra 2000 miles for my first spend on the CC.

See the virgin webpage for all the details.

Why not join the wine club, 3000 miles for your first order.
If you ever needed an excuse :drinking1

Thanks for your replies guys.....

Will check out the virgin site again now that I am feeling a bit more 'with it'!!
And I certainly will check out the wine club - any excuse eh?!!!!!

Cheers!!!!

Ali.

Try working out the price on Miles plus Money as that sometimes works out cheap if you haven't enough for a round trip using miles only.

If you want to add to your vices, why not check out the offer from Virgin for 5000 miles for registering on the virgin games site and placing a £20 bet.

You might even win, if not £20 for 5K miles is good.

You'll have to log in first to go to the page.
