Hi all:goodvibes

After our Orlando trip in 3 weeks time we will have enough miles to purchase an economy flight and then use 50,000 pp to upgrade to first class (a once in a lifetime opportunity for us) my question is - we are going to Las Vegas (myself and hubby) for our 20th wedding anniversary in June next year - when looking at economy return fares there is a "lowest" fare £650pp or "flexible" fare which is £1000pp - which fare would I be looking at??? No doubt the more expensive :confused3

Sorry but yes, the Upgrade from Economy to Upper must be in one of these qualifying fare classes Y,B,R,L,U,M.

Some of the cheapest fares you'll see on line will be in Fare code Q and O, whereas the flexible fare might be in Y.

Also taken from the rules: VAA Upper Class Rewards and certain APEX type fares do not include a chauffeur driven car or other ground transfer services. Please check when booking and Flying Club upgrades cannot be used in conjunction with any promotional fare or discount

its also very difficult to get reward flights to vegas its a bit lie orlando they don't do them!

Upper Class rewards on most of the LGW/MAN routes are very hard to get as there is only 14 seats in the cabin.

You can sometimes get PE reward seats if you are flexible with dates.

My friends have E rewards to LV more than once and even during a reward seat sale.

We have a lot if miles to use and apart from miles plus money flights I have never managed to get a premium cabin reward to MCO - so we treated our grandparents to a PE reward flight to NY for their 60th Anniversary to see DHs cousin graduate and next year we are hoping to fly UC to NY to see family.

We were able to get rewards flights to Vegas in March - we could have got PE rewards seats too but decided to save the money and upgrade our hotel room instead.

It is possible to get upper rewards to Vegas and Orlando but they are very rare and you have to be flying out of peak season and constantly check the virgin site, I'd suggest 3 or 4 times daily if you can, I managed to get 2 upper rewards to Vegas in 2011 but it took several months of checking 5 times a day until I found availability.

Be flexible on your dates and check regularly and you might be lucky.

Thankyou everyone - spoke to flying club today - we want to go in June but we are flexible so they seemed really positive - could have got upper for beginning of June but we are holding out for end of June !
