The thread about Princess Di's dresses has got me thinking about where to go shopping. This is our 4th trip and we've never done much shopping apart from DTD and an hour or so at an outlet mall.

DS (18) really loved spending time at the Virgin Megastore so is there a good CD/games/DVD store nearby?

No Libby to my knowledge there isn't, there is a half decent one near Macy's at the Mall At Millenia but strangely it is something that is missing over there.

Thanks, he should be saving his money anyway as he's hopefully going to uni in September, but he'll be disappointed at the lack of stores.

Think I might pre-order any must haves to wall-mart next time but it doesn't make up for a good browse

I see there's a Fye advertised at Florida Mall too - are there any differences between them?

should be similar - it's a big chain all over the US (i've seen them in the detroit area when i visit my family)..

i don't like FYE though....not nearly as good as Virgin...and the store in detroit has pretty high prices in my experience...nothing at all special about it...

I think he'd be window shopping really - I need something to entice DS and DH to a mall so that DD and I can go shopping!:)

window shopping's always fun...

well you could try either the big outlet malls, or the florida mall, or the mall at millenia..

the mall at millenia isn't a discount mall - it has upper end stores....but it's a beautiful mall....

the florida mall is HUGE - it's also not a discount mall, but has more midrange stores, and often with sales of one kind or another...

then there are the outlet malls....i'm not at all familiar with them, but there are people on the board who are...so i'm sure they'll give you good advice about where to shop for discounts...

I have always found the FYE at Florida Mall to be fine.

Their prices were always a bit lower than Virgin and they had more DVD choice it seemed to me.

Theres a few games stores and music/dvd stores at the Forida Mall.

Premium Outlets has one music store, but to my memory it doesnt have anywhere that sells games.

The nike and adidas stores should be enough to entice the men there anyway, i love them! The stuff is ridiculously cheap!

Best buy near florida mall is good. But I would say Target and wal mart are the best places for cd's and games. MIles cheaper than Virgin ever was

By the way, regardless of how cheap games and cds etc can be bought in the states, they still wont be cheaper than buying online so id advise him to spend his money on other things anyway.

It depends on what u are looking for though as well. Obv certain games are only released in the US, also some are released earlier. Same with CD's

We have been to both the Mall at Millenia and Florida mall FYE stores one of which is larger than the other, I'm not positive but I think the one at Florida mall is the bigger store. Hope this helps.

Thanks, everyone. I think we'll fit in a trip to the Florida Mall as everything else there looks more like my kind of shopping.

If you are just looking for a big electronic store, I would say go to Best Buy. Best Buy is going to be the biggest store with the most CD's/DVD's etc. I believe there is one in Kissimmee.

I'd suggest going to WalMart rather than Fye or any of the music shops.

Purchased 2 DVD box-sets in Fye last year for $50 (£25 against £40 in the UK) and then found them for $38 in Walmart. Returned them to Fye and bought them out of WalMart.

There were R1 of course so you need to be careful....

i don't know about CDs as i never buy them...

best buy is good for electronics though...
i bought a camera there practically for free....
i didn't even know it was on special sale...the regular price (which was what was posted over the camera) was really cheap...
then when the salesman rang it up, it turned out it was on super special.....i was stunned (happily so)...
and the memory card there was also cheaper than cheap...(the one that was on special)..

so if i were in the market for a camera, i would definitely head for best buy..
