I have a few questions about these if you dont mind.
1. When do the children get these? check in or boarding
2. Whats in them?
3. How big/sturdy are the bags?

my 2 want to take their own carry ons but I dont want them to be lumbered with 2 bags each to carry, so may put their goodies in a poly bag for our 1st leg down to Gatwick!!!
Thanks.

The last ones we got were satchel type. Very strong bags, well worth keeping. They got a book, pen, hat and various other bits in it. Not enough to keep them going for the whole flight. Our kids put their carry on things in a plastic bag and transfer them into the virgin bags at the gate.

Hi Mo!

I think putting their bits in a polythene bag to start with is a great idea, the first time my two got their Kid Packs I was lumbered with two extra bags!

You get given the rucksack type bags just before boarding the plane. If they haven't changed the design since last year (and it's been the same since at least '99) they are squarish, slim rucksack type bags, though, I have to say, not the easiest to wear as a rucksack (if that makes any sense at all!). They are resonably sturdy and made of usual rucksack material with a handle as well as the rucksack straps which can be adjusted.

They contain, I believe, a book, magazine, pencil that you can change the colour of, Pez sweets, I think a drink and some other bits. I seem to recall there is also a cap and some sunglasses. I'm sure others here will be more informative as to the exact contents if I've got them wrong!!

My two still needed all their own personal gumpf to keep them occupied but they certainly enjoyed rumaging around in Kid bag to see what goodies they had! :)

Not long till I go either and will bump this up in case someone who has recently returned can say if anything about the kidpack has changed. TYIA

The backpacks are great - very multi coloured and the kids love them.

They usually get a magazine, hat, sunglasses, sweets, pen ( I think).

They can put them on their backs when they get off the plane to go through customs.

They are nice bags - my DD has used hers for school.

The kids also get a small lunch box when the get on the plane to keep them occupied until the meals come round.

I think virgin are very good at entertaining kids in the air.

Hope you have a good time!

Rachel

No sunglasses this time (Jan), also no lunch box, the kids meal on the return flight was yuck, supposed to have been pizza but they must have had it in the ovens for a good two hours as it was inedible. Still i can resole my shoes with it i suppose.

We didn't get half the contents from previous years last October when we went - defo no sunglasses and no lunch box on the return flight. I think Virgin are definitely cutting back - even the amenity kit on the return flight is smaller - but still worthwhile.

The KiD Packs are great especially for first timers as they're not expecting them:D

Will my DS get one? He is 12 and obviously had to pay adult fare. He is still a kid though!
