Can anyone verify for me when I can select my seats for our flight to Florida this year.
We are flying from Heathrow to Miami on Sept 28th and flying back from Orlando to Gatwick on October 16th.
Does the 90day window still apply or can I reserve seats earlier?
Not sure now the rules have changed.
Thanks

Currently, it is the case that you can preselect seats at 60 days prior to the applicable leg of your flight. However, there is a rumour* that Virgin will start to charge for seat selection from April this year. If this happens (and you are prepared to pay) then you may well be able to select your seats earlier.

ETA: *No longer a rumour - now confirmed.

Hi, virgin told me the other day it's 60 days. For you it will be £25 per seat each way as it changes after 1st april though you can do this from anytime after 1st april. That's how I read the website anyway. I fly 1st May but as my 60 days is before 1st april we get to choose for free. Quite confusing I trout though and expensive just to sit with your family. Kids will alwyas get seated with 1 parent if you don't reserve seats though

You can assign seats 60 days before departure, free of charge. Seats can be assigned through Manage Flights which is available up to 24 hours before departure. To request seats before check in opens, please go to Manage Flights.

From 1 April 2014 If you are in Upper Class, Premium Economy, Economy booked in Y or B Class or you are a Flying Club Gold member, you can choose your seat free of charge any time from making your booking. Other Economy passengers who want to choose seats in advance of check in will be able to pay to do this from 1 April 2014 and this will start happening on a route by route basis. See the table of rollout by route.

" If there are no seats showing as available to request, your seats will be allocated to you at the airport. However it's worth visiting Manage Flights online at regular intervals because people do cancel and seats become available.

" Seat assignments for Seat Plus customers are made and confirmed during check in at the airport by an airport agent, which means online seat assignments and online check in are not available.

" If you are travelling with infants, you will be unable to request seats online. You can however call one of our contact centres to request seats. Whether you choose seats before you get to the airport or not, we will always make sure that every child is sat next to at least one parent or adult guardian, children will not be seated alone. We define a child as being less than 12 years.

For more information on seat selection and the changes were making to improve the way you choose your seats, please see changes to the way you choose your seats in advance.

Interesting.

We've just booked direct from Glasgow with Virgin on 19th April so according to this because our 60 days happens before 1st april we'll be able to select seats without having to pay.

I'll try it out when our time comes and let you know how it works :thumbsup2

What cabin are you booked into?

Assuming you are economy, you can pre-select seats for your flights from 1st June from £25 each way, or for free 24hrs before check in.

Here is the link to tell you when pre-selecting seats for each flight route is available: https://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/manage-your-flights/seat-assignment.html

EDIT TO ADD: Taken directly from Virgin Atlantic website:

"Passengers flying in Economy after 01 April 2014 who made a confirmed booking before we announced our new advanced seat assignment policy on 16 December 2013, will still be allowed to request their preferred seats free of charge up to 60 days before departure, or after 01 April 336 days before departure"

Thanks for that. We are flying in Premium Economy to Miami from Heathrow in October this year.
From reading this am I right in saying that I can choose my seat from 1st April?
