Has anyone noticed a difference. In September the on board crew said all their planes were getting a makeover. Just wondered if they have done it yet?

The first 747 is starting a refit now and they are due to all be completed by october.

I had heard that VA had stopped people pre booking their seats for now because of the upgrade of the planes and seat layouts may therefore be different. I managed to do mine just before they stopped it but keep checking to see if they have changed the plane. I know they aren't g'teed seats when you pre book but we have always got what we have booked. I bet we are on the only plane that hasn't been upgraded in September!!!!!:rotfl:

I think the last time i flew with Virgin i was about 14! i have just booked my family for sep 24th from GW flying bk Oct 16th i was originally going to book on the new A3300 on the way over and the 747 on the way back, but ive decided on the flight time that gives me the new A3300 both ways its an hour and half earlier going home but im hoping ive made the right choice lol, i was worried that the refurb would not be done on all planes by that time and god help me if my kids didnt have working bk seat TVs :rotfl2:.and id heard too many horror storys about the 747s getting tatty and old:(

The layout on the 747 is changing the PE cabin downstairs is being made larger but other than that nothing is confirmed until the first plane is back in service towards the end of the month.

I would still rather fly an unreferbed 747 than the new A330 hence why in June we are on the late flights from LGW though my preference would be early out/late back.

How early can you tell what aircraft you will be on?

We are on the VS027 in late July. Will the aircraft have been assigned?

if you go onto the VA site and do a dummy booking for your dates, as long as there is still space available, it will come up with your flights and you can click on the flight number and it will tell you the aircraft. But this is only an indication and what with the refurbs etc it may change, although ours have always been what it says. I just did a dummy booking using 23/7 for you and it came up with the 747-400. But it really could be different on other dates!

Personally I don't care which aircraft I am on as long as its going to Orlando:laughing:

can i ask why you would rather fly the un changed 747 then the new A330 have i missed something lol thats wrong with the new ones as i changedmy times to do the opposite :rotfl2:

I prefer the seating layouts on the 747.

We generally flew PE so like the bubble however even in E I would prefer the 3 4 3 seating to 2 4 2 of the A330 as we are a family of 3.

Personally preference really!
