In case it's of any interest to those travelling in September, I had a letter today informing me that Virgin have cancelled VS27 and VS28 in September. They've moved us to VS15 on the way out which is annoying as we'd requested our seats upstairs and now we may not get them.

At the moment VA seem to still be accepting on-line bookings for VS27 - I don't quite understand why - but their website won't accept my reference or locator number to try and request seats on the new flight - it says my booking isn't recognised. What's going on ? - I have no idea! :confused3

dh says we were on the vs27 :confused3 a plane is a plane to me so ive left him with this info :rotfl: :rotfl:
thanks for posting gill :)

I've asked on the V-Flyer forums to see if anyone can shed some light on the reason for the cancellations.

Very strange, we are on VS027 on Friday 9th and can still see our booking and seat ref when we enter our details on-line. We haven't received a letter either.

Yes our booking is showing on the original flight too. I assume the flights are not heavily booked and so they are combining them - don't mind as long as we get our decent seats - or even better an upgrade! :rotfl:

Fingers crossed, Gill :teeth:

Hope you get this sorted Gill :)

Hi,
Virgin Atlantic website give the usual "operational reasons" for the cancelled flights. It appears it only applies to certain days in September.
Here's a link to the info page.

Virgin Atlantic news

That's interesting because it doesn't say the 14th is cancelled which is when we're going. VH say it's cancelled on 14th though! Maybe this is why I can still view my booking for VS27 on VA's website but can't get it to accept my details for VS15.

We had a letter too Kevin. Our outbound flight on September 19th (VS027) was cancelled and we are now on the VS015.

Wonder if they've had problems filling seats :confused3

It also said that VS028 was cancelled and we are now inbound on VS016, however the time appears to be the same. So now I'm even more confused :confused3 :confused3

Well I rang VA and it's much clearer now - about as clear as mud! They clain "our" flight is operational and that VH must have said it's cancelled because PE is full - even though they are showing seats available and on their system we are still on the original flight. They also say any transfer of info from VH to VA and vice versa can only be done on a weekday - hello - this is 2005 - the age of the computer and instant information!

So I know no more than yesterday!

our flight is on the 22nd and as yet unnafected by these changes :confused3
i shall keep a close eye on this info
thanks again for posting :)

It may be 2005 and the age of the computer and instant information - but people still dont want to work on sat and sun which is why the info is not transferable on a weekend 9 well according to virgin any way.

I'm due to fly on the VS27 on the 26th Sept and have been unaffected by this but the 25th and 27th have. Just glad these flights that are being changed are on the same day because some people can't always be flexable on changing dates with employers.

Hope no one on here is put out by this decision!! :(

At last I got a telephone call from Virgin Holidays and a real person who seemed to know what he was talking about. Yes, there are many cancellations to MCO but NOT on the day we are travelling and the letter we received was sent in error! Doh!

However, even though our booking has been transferred to the new flight already, they are prepared to transfer it back - quite honestly I really can't be bothered with any more hassle over this so I have left well alone, especially as I have requested the EXACT seats I want "upstairs"

Hope everyone else gets what they want, when they want it!!!

hi
it doesn't look as if we are affected either :) im glad you got it sorted out :sunny:

We are not affected either. We were originally told they have moved our flight date, but this was an error from the Indian call centre - now there's a surprise!!!

Glad you all got it sorted

Michelle

We have had our flight changed as described on the 12th Sept.
We had a letter accordingly and I have checked online using the new flight info and all seems to be in order for us and the other 4 passengers in our group.

I must admit I did panic as we are going out to get married and there is a lot of money, time and effort riding on this trip, so it can't go wrong !!

I am sure that all will be OK and our new travel documents from Virgin Holidays correctly reflect the change. The only downside that I can see is that we are now leaving an hour later and returning an hour earlier, so 2 hours less in Florida ! Booo !
