Virgin delays

On the other hand if people on here didnt post and discuss their worries then this board would be a very boring collection of single digit dance threads and queries about tour guide Mike :)

Too true, and I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that my single digit dance will be along in 94 days.:lmao:

Anyone who can be bothered to plough through them can see the UK Punctuality stats put out by the Civil Aviation Authority at

http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=80&pagetype=88&sglid=12&fld=2007

or you can look at
http://www.flightontime.info/

Virgin have had one of the worst punctuality records of any scheduled airline and its been like that for years. In fact out of our dozens of flights to Florida they account for our only major delay (10 hours) and we have not been with them since!!

That of course is your choice, but to base it on one delay is quite sad, especially as you have not said why the delay was 10 hours.
Yes, they are as I have said before 21st out of 21, but again, the delay is quite small, and all flights are average of less than 1 hour.
Why do people get so would up over dealys of less than one hour when they would normally livce with this in the rest of their lives? How many of you have stood in a queue at WDW for more than an hour? Have you decided not to go back to that park???
Your'e on holiday, chill out!

From WESH2 http://www.wesh.com/travelgetaways/13633282/detail.html

"The government said that air travel is getting worse.

For the first five months of the year, more than a quarter of all flights were delayed -- the worst on record.

In June, airline delays were up 18 percent over last year.

The average delay is 51 minutes and 27 seconds, which is five minutes longer than a year ago, officials said.

Passenger rights advocates said the numbers are misleading because if a plane sits for hours, then cancels, it is not counted as a delay.

"There were 800,000-plus cancellations last year, for which no time on the tarmac data is gathered by the government. Those are astronomical numbers," said passenger rights advocate Kate Hanni.

Understaffed airlines, packed planes and bad weather could be to blame for the increase in delays.

Airlines cite an outdated air traffic control infrastructure for the slowdown"

I dunno about the other airlines, but when we left it was about 2hours delay going out, spent talking to a very nice floridian, and then a 26 hour delay coming back. Due to the fact that the plane got hit by lightening and they had to ship a new part in. Virgin were very good about it and i really don't mind to much.

It's a very interesting discussion.

A few years ago and in a different job, I didn't travel the UK much. Having spent a few years on so many trains I have lost count a delay doesn't bother me anymore. I hate being late for a meeting, but I accept it, if you travel unseen things can and will occur. I'm more laid back now :cool2: .

As for flying, well I never like  doing it anyway so I'm happy to be delayed in the airport :rotfl:

When choosing who to book with I didn't look at the delay times, I looked at the air safety records. Being delayed is one thing, not getting there is another.....
