Virgin Atlantic Seat booking charge from 17 November 2014

Managed (after over an hour of trying) to get the seats we wanted for.

Had issues with cards being declined but got there in the end.

DH had tried calling Virgin but they would not allow us to book the seats over the phone.

How did you manage it in the end then, I can't even get onto their site at the moment and my card has been declined 4 times.

well I'm booked £160 later, but on the plus we have the economy seats in the bubble there and back....silver lining and all that , bit still, but its nice to know we have seats were i would like them.....now if they move me i will be annoyed. :cool1:

Booked my seats but it was open before 8am I logged on at 7.50 and got straight in. Got back row PE seats x4 in a row downstairs for the way home which was the row I wanted and the back to rows of PE in the bubble on the way out which was also what I wanted so am happy. Happier times free!

I just kept going back to the beginning and trying again and again. Once your card gets declined you have to go back and select the seats all over again.

It was open when we tried just after 6 am.

I was lucky my seats were left then! Only the front rows of the PE cabins had gone and I don't like those even with the extra leg room due to the TVs coming out of the arm rests.

In PE the front row is still blocked as it the left half of the upper deck.

I prefer to sit the other way to you - downstairs outbound for a quick exit at MCO - bubble home as they still feel a bit more spacious :goodvibes

Your way is more sensible but I always get really bad ankle swelling on the night flight (worse than on the way out for some reason?) and I like to me able to walk the plane. That's harder to do without disturbing everyone in the Bubble on the night flight.

I can book mine now for next may

It seems to cost £150 for 6 seats on the way out

bubble or front of economy

or £180 for 3 exit row and 3 normal
which would be fine except we are 3 kids 3 adults
which mean the adults would have to sit together.
and kids - which would mean WAR.
the other optio on the way out is the child applicaple extra legroom seats
which would be £60 more and in the second block of economy seats
more comfort alright but im not tall so its not such an issue.

i think on the way home ill book 6 at the back together in the 2 - 2 - 2 bit.

So if I pay to book seats in the bubble economy, no one can change that because we've paid?

No, they can still be changed - it makes it quite clear in the Ts&Cs that the seats can be changed but any fee you have paid will be refunded if your seats are changed.

So what's the point? It seems like a total waste of time! You go through the process to book the seats pay extra then they can still change them! :headache:

I went in at about 8pm last night and booked our economy seats with no problem. Decided not to book elr or exit. First two rows in economy were blanked out - no idea why! Card taken first time.... All good (apart from the £200 it cost me!)

They won't be booked by another passenger, but there will always be occasions where they may need to change aircraft for one with a different seat configuration, or if someone has medical requirements for particular seats. It's the same on any airline.

I finally managed to book exit row seats for our outbound flight at about 8 last night too - although I had to use a different card as my VA credit card was declined several times :confused3

Pleased to read you got it sorted; I can imagine how frustrating it was. :)

I feel happy and relieved to have got mine - and presumably from now on, you will have the ability to select seats when you book (as it used to be) and so first come first served, which suits me just fine.

Just a warning to those who are looking to book exit row seats. I booked mine over the phone a month ago and was told I had the last 2.

Last night I tried to select them but was constantly told by the site that I had to pay £35 for them. 3 problems here.
How could I pay for them if there were none left to buy???
The seats actually cost £50.
Why can't I select on line?

I rang Virgin and after aaaaggggees on hold, they said that selecting one bought previously couldn't be done on line because of a glitch, that the price was actually £50 and the £35 was also a glitch that would not be honoured and they were stunned to discover that the site was selling seats that were, he confirmed, not available.

I got the PE seats I wanted for our Easter trip and also the UC seats for summer so I'm very pleased.
