I have read this thread with interest but I am still confused We booked a sky cot for infant three months old. Apparently, we can't check in online for our flight the day before because we have requested a skycot. To me, that means, by the time we check in at the desk there may be no bulkhead seats left. So, how can we get seats beside a skycot???

If you have prebooked a Skycot then those seats will have been put aside for you.

Thanks for the quick reply. Another thing though - There are 4 adults 1 child and 1 infant in our party. So, will

Oh with that many depending on who else needs a skycot could be one adult with the skycot and others the row behind, or so I am lead to believe.

Here's a related question: we have booked with Virgin and will be checking in online and printing off our boarding passes. However, at no point during our booking or in the FAQ's on the site that we can see is there any mention about luggage tags. Do we automatically get posted these or do we need to request them or do we have to wait until we are at the baggage drop off desk at the airport where we will be given the tags to fill out there and then?

Please could anyone who has flown this way with Virgin just let me know. Thanks.

You should receive luggage tags with your tickets a week or so before you go.

These days you will gtet the luggage tags at the airport.
Even I as a Gold card member and flying upper class on an E ticket get no paper tickets or luggage tags any more, I just pinch a few at the desk

So we get the luggage tags when we get to the airport and presumably have to write them either in the queue waiting to drop off our bags or at the counter as we drop off the luggage and cause those behind us to wait longer? All this effort to try and reduce as much time spent checking in at the airport and something basic like this seems to happen. Hmmm, not sure Virgin have thought this entirely through personally...

I may be wrong but I dont think many people fill in the tags any more WQueenie. I know we don't. We just like the silver tags on our bags

Not sure but I thought all luggage now gets a bar code fastened to your luggage with all info that is required , its printed off and stuck around the handle when you hand over your luggage, we have not used luggage labels for about 2-3 years, maybe the charter airlines still require them?
I always put a sheet of paper inside the case with my name and address incase the barcode gets torn off.

I do this too. I stick an a4 sheet to the inside lid of the suitcase with US address on it when were outbound then turn it over to display our home address when were inbound.
A travel writer pal told me to do this years ago.

Yes Wayneg, thats correct, then the corrisponding bar code is attached to your boarding card.
the luggage identifier is on quite strong paper now.

As well as attaching the barcoded labels, the check-in clerks also attach PE/UC tags for the benefit of the baggage handlers.
