Hi,
VA seem to be having even more problems unless this is just a typo:

The following flight matches your search criteria. Please note that all times listed are local.
Flight number VS 015
Departure date 27 Oct 2006
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 27 Oct 12:30
Estimated departure time 28 Oct 09:15
Scheduled arrival time 27 Oct 16:40
Estimated arrival time 28 Oct 13:46

Pleased I'm not on that one.

Mick

No!!!!!!!!!!!! What about the VS27?? Where do you get this info from??

Oh wow that is some delay :( The VS027 is only about an hour or so delayed.

Kaylee look here.

Claire ;)

Wow that is one big delay! I wonder what happened to cause that? How horrible for the people on the flight. :guilty:

I can't understand these delays as the inbouns aircraft are arriving pretty much on time. The outbound aircraft maybe experiencing technical delays. Just going to pop over to V-Flyer to try to get more info.

Kaylee - finger crossed it will be ok by Sunday :grouphug:

If you track the movement of the VA aircraft you often find that the outbound is not infact the same plane that came inbound from that route, any Gtawick plane can fly to any destination that Gatwick serves so the aircrafts are not dedicated to any particular route. The delay could be for various reasons such as crew sickness and not enough crew on standby to cover the absences, or in fact the plane going tech after arriving from a different destination. Either way such a long delay is not good.

Aircraft flight history.

Apprently the VS15 sufferered a cracked windscreen and this was the delay. THe 27 left 2 hours late probably because the transfered as many passengers as they could over to the other flight.

VS016 due to fly Friday 27th Oct 19.40 from Orlando to Gatwick was cancelled due to a shattered windscreen.
Virgin ran 2 flights last night VS016 and VS116, the latter to cover for the cancelled flight the night before.
And just in case you're all wondering - yup I was on the cancelled flight.
24 extra hours in Orlando :yay:

tiggertop thank you for letting us know. Where did you stay for the night? I would have been so stressed. Did Virgin let you know what was happening?

Susan

Virgin put us up in the Hyatt at MCO. We had 2 lovely rooms, dinner on the Friday and breakfast and lunch on the saturday. We had these on the 9th floor Hemisphere restaurant, but we could have used the other restaurat at the Hyatt or places in the airport.

We didn't find out about the delay until we got to DTD to check-in, but everyone was very helpful and it was all sorted out for us quickly.

Virgin have also offered us 50% of an economy or preimium flight within the next 18 months, which I wasn't expecting, and I am more than happy with that :Pinkbounc

I have always wondered what happens when these type of delays occur. I have always been worried that I would not get back to work in time, but you make it sound not so bad.

Hope the rest of your vacation was great. We only got back Friday morning but flew with BA and the flight left on time and arrived back early.

Susan

Hi

Oh my. I would hate to lose that amount of time. We were delayed 2 hours last year, but 19 hours :sad2:

I am glad they sorted yours out Tigger. It is horrible for the outbound passengers. Whats going on Virgin?????

We are flying to NYC with VA in March. Fingers crossed it will be on time.

tiggertop,

We were at dtd checkin on Friday 27th when you all got the news of the delay. I was talking to a lady who seemed to be with her family and another family. Was that you?... I'm so glad it all worked out well. 50% off thats wonderful. We were on the manchester flight that was delayed 8hours on 10th oct and 6-7 hours of that was spent on the plane, we were given letters with 10% off next flight.

Maria

Hope these are just isolated incidents, and not the shape of things to come!!!
We are flying with Virgin in July - and don't want another episode like we had this summer with TCD! (24hrs delay in Manchester.... yuk...and apart from being put up in a local hotel, and an awful 'cattle' like buffet - no other offer of compensation).

That may well have been me.. I was waiting for my husband to arrive with the rest of the party and thier luggage. So they (actually my mum, dad and my DD ) had a shock when they got there too!
We really didn't mind too much as we got to go back to MGM and see a show we'd missed, and then to be offered a 50% discount was just amazing. I really can't fault Virgin for that
:thumbsup2
