Virgin America---How is it?

I was checking airfares from San Jose to Orlando today and located a great one on Virgin America. I never see anyone post about it. Just wanted some opinions

I flew them a couple years ago from JFK-LAX.

It was good. TV in seats (like JetBlue). Interesting lighting / interior. But legroom was lacking.

All in all, I would fly them again.

I read that they are having financial problems. It's a risk with these small airlines, they can fold quick.

Come to think of it, we flew Virgin in Aug 2008... which was in the height of the financial crisis. My brother works for a large airline and he warned me then that Virgin was in financial trouble then....

Well, they just recently expanded into Newark. So there's that.

I am flying them in August from PHL to LAX. (I hope, lol) That is my D23 trip.

I know several people that have flown them and they liked it. Hopefully they stay afloat, they have some good prices from here to Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

I flew Virgin America for the first time last December, RT LAX-IAD. It was a great flight experience overall. In-flight entertainment was pretty good and the power outlets underneath the seats were welcome on the 4+ hour flight. I also tried the in-flight wifi on the return leg (additional charge) and it worked flawlessly. I wouldn't hesitate to fly them again this year or next--even after reading that Bloomberg article. If they continue to lose money, then I might be hesitant booking them in the future, i.e. 2015 and beyond. But they have a pretty good product right now. Virgin America is a great airline. But it's very, very close to going out of business. They are close to running out of investor money so I'd advise not buying tickets more than 60 days prior to travel. And only with a credit card, NOT a debit card. Why? Because you can get a credit card refund up to 60 days after purchase.
If the trip is a 'must do', I wouldn't book on Virgin America because you may find yourself with tickets for an airline that's no longer flying. Just ask Aloha, ATA, Skybus, IndependenceAir, Eos, Maxjet and other customers when those airlines went out of business.
