I don't get these either!!!
I also don't get the Pook-a-looks or whatever they're called..LOL!!! I do think that they're really creepy...the vinyl ones!!!

My DS7 just discovered these on our last trip. Gotta say I am liking them better than pins. First, it doesn't take an hour of debating over which one he's going to get, just pick a box and go!Secondly, when I find them lying on the floor it doesn't hurt so much to step on them!
And given that the 3" are basically the same price as pins I have no complaints. We only have a few and no doubles so will have to see how it goes once we start getting dupes...
I thought I would shed some light on those that don't get it.![]()
Way before Vinylmation existed there were Vinyls. Vinyls are 3D ceramic objects that are painted by urban street artists and sold/collected for a loooot of money they can get very expensive. The most recognizable name in these Vinyls is Kid Robot. http://www.kidrobot.com/
There are Kid Robot stores in a lot of major cities, and now he dabbles in apparel which also go for a lot of money. Just like Vinylmation, the toys and apparel he makes are very exclusive, and thus making them very collectable (http://www.kidrobot.com/Toys/DesignerToys/Evirob18Inch.html)
Just like the rubber band bracelets that Disney is now coming out with, I think they found an opportunity to capitalize on several people: Those who know about vinyls and like Disney, those who like to collect things, people who like shiny pretty things, guests who like to trade and interact with CM, and people who just like the way they look.
