I've been lurking this thread for awhile but i had a question. The site that WDWFreak200 has a vinyl called pirate mickey. I would link to it but it says i must have 10 posts. How is that one a pirate? It looks japanese to me.
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that it said pirate. I'm a little surprised they didn't go with a more traditional take on pirates tho.
Thanks for the great VinylNation link, WDWFreak200. I'm glad someone has finally put all the stuff together in one location! And they have great detailed pictures (whereas Disney's official site has been a little lax on updating).
I just noticed that if you click the pictures on the Park Series 1 page it shows you views of each figure from all angles. Some of them have really cool looking bakcs that you dont get to see on Disneys site. Cool!
Also on their forum they just put up a picture of a Cast Exclusive one. Looks pretty cool. How do you get those if you aren't a cast member?
I just got back from first trip to WDW and bought one of these. I see it's fireworks (not one I would have picked). I have some of the Kid Robot figures and so got this right away. Was shocked that Disney was getting so hip.
The CMs tried to get me to open it right away. Now I see why, if they could have offered a trade. Obviously the ones to get are the limited edition ones.
So who has been to DL lately and did you see any there? Or at DTD? I am now hooked!
Ok so educate me...I looked in the parks this weekend and only saw the big ones and the pins....am I missing something? Nothing looked like it was random except the pins......so now I'm all confused.....lol
Pixiewings, did you ask a CM where the smaller ones were sold? I wonder if they are all out? The small ones come in boxes so you can't tell what you're getting until you've purchased it. This mode has been used a lot with Japanese figures, such as Kid Robot and others. It adds a bit of a gamble to it all and of course the hope that you'll snag one of the more rare pieces (some are in limited edition).
You'll know because you'll see examples of the little figures on display (usually under glass) and then the small black boxes below.

No I didn't ask any CM's and yes I did look in Off the Page. OtP is my favorite store in DCA, I love it in there! I didn't see any in small boxes. I guess maybe they were sold out then.
Whoops! Thanks for clearing that up Vinylmation Fan!
To answer your question, I just registered yesterday on the site, but haven't yet posted anything. However, I did contribute some photos of the 9" figures (Safari Mickey, and Haunted Mansion & Water Parks which will go up later today).
I saw these at Vault 28 in DTD and was SO intrigued. How clever these are! Now I understand more about what each one means and they make way more sense. I love the interpretation of classic Disney stuff in such a cool way, although I still don't get the pig with fried eggs on him (anyone?)-- Love them!
