I'm hesitant to share this because I am being selfish and don't want the server flooded (I'm trying to get DD's MP3 player ready for the long flight) but I just couldn't NOT share this. (This is one of my favorite websites for children's entertainment, but please be aware, if you decide to look around other programs, that some are offensive because of the social climate of the time they were produced. I just don't download those.)

This website has old (presumed public domain due to very old copyright) children's records that they have uploaded to the internet. There is a record called Your Trip To Disneyland. I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it takes a very short time to download and is about 9 1/2 minutes long- Tink is the host of this "virtual tour" of Disneyland as it was in days past. (I can't find a copyright date.)

You can also download the original images that came with this record. There is a nice panaromic drawing of the park.

It is the last entry for July, Week 31. (FYI, there are a few other Disney records if you poke around, including Mr. Toad....)

Enjoy!

Wow, never heard Tink talk before.

Also never heard of this site. Might have to spend some time poking around.

You're welcome!

I should add (for anyone hesitant to download) that there is a stream you can listen to.

i cant figure out how to download it to media player. :(

I have to download it and park it in a specific folder, then manually add it by clicking on library-add-add and manually typing in the location of the folder. For some reason, WMP doesn't usually pick these up automatically (not for me, anyway.)

It won't work. :( It will download to my computer but it will not go onto my MP3 player or burn to a cd. They are not even in Mp3 format. If someone was able to figure this out, please share how you did it. Thanks so much!

Dianne

I never have any problem getting them onto my mp3 players. I've put them onto several different Sansa players. (I've never tried putting them on DH's iPod, though, so I don't know if they will work on that brand.)

All I do is get them into Windows Media Player and then sync them to my MP3 player. IIRC, WMP doesn't ever convert them, which means that the ones I am downloading are already in MP3 format. Which download option are you using?

What programs are you using?

Here is exactly what I do (typing step by step as I do it, using Windows XP, Firefox, and Windows Media Player to put them onto my Sansa e250R or my daughter's Sansa- I will also describe how I put it onto my other Sansa: )

1. Download each file using "Option A." (I hate bit torrent and won't ever use it. The option A files are already in MP3 format.)

Next you need to get it into WMP. You can either force WMP to find it (will describe how later) or if you only have a few files, you can go to step 2A. If you have downloaded a bunch of files, skip to 2B.

2A. Locate file on computer. (In my setup, I right click on the file in the download box and select "Open Containing Folder.")

3A. Right click on the file and select "Add to Windows Media Player List."
(WMP will open if it isn't already open, and the file should start playing.)

4A. The file should be near the top right corner of WMP. Right click it again, and add it to a playlist (you can create a new one by clicking on "additional playlists.")

5A. Once your file is in a playlist, it should be in your library. Click the Sync tab, add it to your sync list, and sync your player.

2B. If you have downloaded lots of files, open WMP and click on the library tab. Make sure the "Music" is selected, the click "Add to library..."

3B. A pop-up box will open. Click "add" then select the location of the files. (This is wherever your download manager dumps your downloaded files for you. Mine is on my desktop.) Once you have selected the right spot, click "OK" and then click "OK" again. WMP will start adding any new media files it finds on your computer. It will probably take a while, but you can close the box and continue working on other things.

4B. The files should show up in your library. I find the easiest way to locate them all is to find them using the "recently added" folder.

5B. Click on the "sync" tab. Add the files to you sync list, then start the sync.

2C. In my other Sansa, I just find the files I want on my hard drive, right click to copy, and paste them "into" my MP3 player in "my computer."

As long as you are downloading option A, and not the torrent, you should be getting them in MP3 format. For example, this is the file I just downloaded from the first week of 2005, not modified in any way:

Livingston_Alan_Story_of_Robin_Hood_01.mp3

Try those ways and see if you can get anywhere. If not, post and let me know what kind of programs you are using and what kind of MP3 player and I will try to help. I have a limited knowledge, but I want you to be able to hear the vintage Disney Goodness!!! :goodvibes

I should add that to burn it to a CD, you should be able to do all the above, but in step 5, click on the burn tab instead, and add it to you burn list.

Good luck and let me know how it works out for you. (And if I don't answer right away, please be patient with me- I am trying to pack 2 weeks of clothes for 3 people right now- it takes a looooooong time!)

My first problem is when I click to download option A, all it does it play it through quick time. Thoughts?

That's weird. It doesn't surprise me though, as Quicktime is the bane of my existence these days. Both of my desktop computers are having problems with it. But when I click on a single file under option A, it automatically starts downloading.

I suspect there is a problem with the settings in your download manager. Can you download media files from other sites without any problems?

I have used WMP and it doesn't always work - try getting the program Nero - it's the best! I never have problems.

:thumbsup2

Glad to be of help. And I'm glad we didn't need to get more involved with Quicktime- I despise that program right now!

ETA that I eventually had a duh moment and figured out that even though the files seemed to be only playing in Quicktime, they must actually have been downloading and then automatically playing. So I'm guessing they were on your computer somewhere, right?
