These changes were announced months after tickets went on sale, and only just before the first MNSSHP. A lot of people didn't have the luxury of making a fully informed decision.

Agreed. And I've said I thought their timing on this stunk.

I'm thinking more of next year. I doubt that the number of people who have both 1) been to MNSSHP before and 2) are so upset by these changes that they won't buy a ticket -- will be negligible. I'd guess Disney more than makes up for it in new guests attracted by the offering into buying a MNSSHP ticket where they might not have before!

Which is why I'm saying you can't use the "if so.many people were upset about the changes,.Disney wouldn't do it" argument. People have to know that they are changes to have an issue with it. Just because people don't know any better doesn't make it OK to continue to.charge more and offer less.

I do understand... but define "ok" for a business...

They have to offer a product/service at a price that people are willing to pay. If it turns out enough people are willing to pay more and get "less" (even if they don't know that it's less), that company is maximizing profits.

They'll lose some customers, gain others, but if profits are up/steady and in any given year, let's say, overall customer satisfaction is high, isn't that "ok"? Perhaps not OK for you or for me -- and we take our business elsewhere. But it's not an objective "ok" or "not ok".

Essentially buying a MNSSHP ticket just gets you through the front gate and then you upgrade from there.

That's certainly the direction they're headed.

We try to make it down to Disney about once a year, and I love finding my old favorites. I also like to see changes. I am so confused by posts that say, "we saw all the princes last year and the 3 years before and we are so ticked off we can't do that exact same thing this year." Disney never put out an official statement reading, "From this day forward - throughout time and memorium, the princes shall appear with their princesses at MNSSHP!"

I know some people are mad that they aren't going to meet Maleficent with their child who is dressed as her, but MOST people don't realize that she was to the far left at the M&M in the past, and to line up right in that spot and hope not to get trampled to meet her. The average partygoer is not going to know that, and was most likely not going to meet Maleficent under those conditions.

A lot of people (probably a lot of frequent posters to this thread!) have been intrigued by the thought of a Villain character meal for a long time. Heck, we've been talking about it on the DIS for years. Here you go, you got it! Club Villain - seems pretty dang COOL, even though it's something new and not what it was last year. Does everyone want to just rewind the tape to when they were there with Woody last year? Maybe you didn't get to go last year and all you wanted was to dance with Woody? Well they gotta keep it fresh, so you can luckily still meet him at HS. I personally think the addition of the old hag witch from Snow White meeting near the Dwarves is a really cool addition to this year's party - but it's not even a blip on the radar because there's a preoccupation for what we aren't getting.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I just wanted to highlight the fact that sometimes change is good - something new and fresh (awesome new offering, new dance party, hag!). MAYBE this will be the best MNSSHP yet - with or without the soiree. If you go expecting it to suck, it probably will.

My biggest concern is the unfavorable fireworks viewing, the big draw for me is not having to steak out spots for the parade an fireworks and not happy with poor fireworks viewing

Does anyone know the refund/cancellation policy on tickets to the soiree? Plus, is there a list of sold-out dates available? I'm thinking of doing the late seating on Sept. 16, but some in my party are wavering (it'll be our first time at MNSSHP and we want to enjoy the party). I'd like to see how reviews on later nights turn out, specifically whether people are happy with the vantage point for the fireworks.

I think that our thoughts on this new offering are pretty similar. I do get others not agreeing, based on what's most important to them about MNSSHP. But generally, I like the idea of Disney trying new things... and sometimes this will mean removing other things -- and each thing at WDW is probably SOMEONE's favorite...

But I think it's unambiguously less than ideal (!!) to announce the soirée so close to the parties beginning, and so long after MNSSHP tix were sold -- unless they make these tix refundable.

Upon booking we were told we could cancel up to 24hrs before the event. Didn't see this in writing, though.

You just need to cancel the day before like a regular dining reservation.

I am not against change. I am against offering less for the same price. VSS is a fine idea...as long as it doesn't steal from the base experience. It does, therefore the concept sucks.

The thing I think was rude of Disney was not to email guests who bought tickets to the Halloween party to let them know about the Villain Soiree that they were making available.
We booked our trip a while ago and they know we have tickets to the party. Fortunately, I came over to this forum and found out about the new addition otherwise, it would have sold out and I wouldn't have had the chance to get tickets. I just found out about it on Saturday and when I called to book Sunday morning, the 10:15 soiree was already sold out. I was so happy that the 11:45 soiree was still available (the one I wanted anyway so we don't miss any of the party).
It's like they snuck in the party and didn't announce it. They email me about everything else and I have the app...would have been easy for them to send a blast to everyone who bought tickets.

I think what they did this year was shady wrt what they took away when and when tickets went on sale. I don't think shadiness is OK for business,.no.

Has anyone tried for a refund yet? Based on the original announcement for the beginning ticket sales said Villains MIX & MINGLE? Whish means they are meet able in my mind. I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten one or heard of someone getting one. That would be good guest service in my mind, actually putting them back after the stage would be better but it was such a chaotic mess all these years. Kids and parents pushing, cutting in front it was not worth it.

If you would take note, most people in this thread don't have an issue with Disney offering a.premium event. They take issue with lessening the base experience to create the.premium experience. It isn't a requirement to lessen something in order to offer something else - especially when the prices are increasing every year.

Disney wants to.change something, sure. But it shouldn't mean people get.less. take out the princes, ok, but replace them with something. They didn't, the princes are.just gone. And what they originally announced as replacements were then no longer replacements.and were put.somewhere else and charged.more money. The princes are still.gone, now no replacement at all, AND most of the villains.no.longer have a traditional meet and greet option, also with.nothing.to replace them.

There's changes, and there are cutbacks. This is.more the latter than the former.
