VILLIANS LAND

This is an idea whose time is long overdue imo. Hopefully it will get the budget it deserves and won't die the death of a thousand cuts.

I am so excited for Villains Land, and this is my hope too. That is gets the budget and time it needs. I do hate to lose all of Rivers of America, but I understand where Disney is coming from. MK is so crowded, hopefully this will help even the park out a little.

I hope so too, and I am holding onto that pitch as well, but this is a very, very tight needle they have to thread. There is a demographic of people for whom villain anything will be a hard sell. I have already seen some deeply hysterical (in both senses of the word) comments floating around. I am just hoping we are louder. :rotfl2:

Did you ever go to the Villains After Hours events when they had them? I imagine the vibes in this land will be similar. Darker and more adult feeling but not completely alienating more skittish guests. Spooky rather than terrifying. I also don't think kids will necessarily be inherently scared of it either, I mean villains can also be quite goofy as well, like Hades. But I was the kid who gleefully ran up to the Sheriff of Nottingham as a kid and hugged him like he was Mickey so I'm probably not the best one to go by.
Yes the Villains After Hours was great. The dragon at night to metal rock music = goosebumps! LOVED IT and that alone was worth price of ticket. I see in the rendering fire breathing dragon up high, I hope so! I also went to Club Villain, best Disney small event ever! LOVED it! Also went to both Unleashed the Villains and even though they were a complete disaster we had a great time. I still have my shirts I painted, maybe I should add to them to welcome the new land.

Here is my thing, if anyone is complaining about Villains in the parks, keep your hypocritical self at home. Disney stories AND PARKS are full of villains, and those are the best movies. Darth Vader, Maleficent, Evil Queen, Witch, Jafar, Cruella, Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Mr Smee, Lady Tremaine and her daughters, Hopper, Gaston, Madam Leota .... and the list goes on and on. Stepping foot in Disney is acknowledging that Villains are a critical part of most stories and have a place there.

My bet is that they are going to build it where the steamboat goes around Tom Sawyer Island, fill the river in, redirect all that water elsewhere, and connect into the new land to the right of BTMRR.
That's what they are doing for Cars land/Frontierland extension. The Villains are supposedly going to the "beyond BTMRR" area.

My ds (4) is all about villains. When I told him they’re building a villains land he was super excited. I’m sure there are other kids that will be just as excited

Hoping for the best with this change. Not sure how that will fit next to BTMRR and haunted Mansion. If they give it the proper budget, it could be amazing! Hoping they don't cut the budget and cheapen it down.

Finally MY PEOPLE! will have their place of respect!

I am beyond thrilled!!

I will guarantee there are way more Villains fans (with money to spend) than there are Princess fans. If they want to make it perfection give us a Character meal!!!

Thank you Universal Epic Universe. I think the HUGE fanfare and the incredible previews of their Monster Land helped push this out of Blue Sky in the "promise" phase.

Yeah, DS and I hunkered (and he's good at this stuff right down to land measurements) and predict they will shorten the river making it a tighter oval loop. Pull the back end of Tom Sawyer that they don't use away to add peninsula to back land. Build boardwalks like there are along Frontierland on both sides, HM side and BTM side (to not interfere with riverboat) to the "beyond" area. Carsland on the south "behind" BTM and Villains land to the north "behind" Haunted Mansion. Both a great thematic fit as you walk in. Add a train station stop back there between Cars and Villains.

Our armchair imagineering is this (yes we have done this with every announcement for over a decade).
~ Dark grey I cut river through island behind fort which is not used. Riverboat can do that circle.
~ Green is the land that will fill in for the two lands.
~ To the left is Carsland, to the right is Villains land.
~ Red dot is train station giving access to both lands.

I wish they would cut it short and leave a small river still and keep the boat going around.

So pumped for Villains Land, but not for the cars stuff.
Taking out the heart of the park, the beauty that is the river and island isn't what I call progress, but alas what is done is done. Thankfully Disneyland is my go-to park and that will never be touched so I can have my beautiful disneyland forever.

I just think taking away all the wonderful "natural" scenery is a mistake and what sets the Disney parks apart from others, the quiet spots that make it beautiful.
There is also now not a single place kids can just free play or run around. All of the play areas are gone, the island and the dig site were the last two areas kids could just have some fun without lines, now both will be gone and I think that is a travesty.

But bring on the Villains and don't scrimp on it !!

I am so excited for Villains Land! A character meal would be amazing. Not looking forward to having to find an ADR for that one. Really hoping they do it right and don’t cheap out. I always remember back when they announced new Fantasyland and how much of that didn't happen.

I don't really care about Cars but the major ride does look pretty cool.

I’m excited for this but until it’s being built I’m a little skeptical. I’m still annoyed the Mary Poppins ride got scrapped after being announced

I'm with you. A lot of the Epcot plans were cut back or cancelled. And it's almost guaranteed there's going to be a leadership change in the midst of all this. Who knows how much desire they will have to bring it down to the finish line after Cars and Tropical Americas. I'll keep the emotions in check until there's more than some vague concept art.

This is absolutely by design, not an accident. In a world where parents actually supervised their kids instead of outsourcing it to CMs, we'd probably still have them. Unfortunately we live in a world where people don't do that, and then blame CMs when things happen.

There is a playground inside of the Dumbo queue and also the Casey Jr. Splash n' Soak Station just outside of Dumbo. Both are good spots for kids to run around and have fun.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!1!!! OMG! Yes to all of this! And I hope that the imagineers take even a crumb of what the members here have been thinking up!

My ds loves the playground at Dumbo but it’s usually closed whenever we go

Truthfully the Cars stuff looks great to me, I'm just not sure it fits in that spot, or that its worth losing what's there now. :(

I just hope they push back the closure so I can get out to the island before they close it. (trip planned Oct 2025)
