Villas with 2 bathrooms?

Wanted to add that the resort studios at VGF "sort of" have a split bathroom design - the toilet and shower/tub area have a door to separate them from the double sink area. So, 2 people can be getting ready at the sinks while someone else is using the other half. They also have adjoining rooms like the Poly as an option.

I think the OP's best bet might be to wait a year until the new Poly tower is built and buy there, since it will offer 1 and 2 bedroom suites.

Really? I did not notice that at all when I toured. Lol

BLT will give you more room type choices than Poly. Unless you want to wait two years for the new tower to come online. Resale is the way to go with either of those because the direct pricing for sold-out resorts is high. If buying direct, then it's VGF or RVA. I think any of those choices would be nice, though I'm partial to RVA and BLT.

I want to keep thanking everyone for their input. This is great stuff!

I do plan to buy in about a year-18 months. I was actually thinking of buying while on the Alaskan cruise we plan to take (whenever those next dates are released), so it will be about 18 months probably. Because of this, the new Poly will probably be something we could do. I figure taking a good year to research the process and what it's like as well as knowing exactly what we want so we don't get pressured into anything else is best.

I do want to buy direct for our fist contract because I am interested in the discounts provided. I also also want to be able to divide the contract so that they can be bequeathed to the kids, one each. Hopefully we can do 75/75 and still get the blue card for the 150 total). And then any subsequent points can be through resale.

I'm actually staying at the Poly with my mom in June, so maybe I can take a tour then. I'm a bit nervous though about how high pressure those can be. o.O

As a new buyer, they currently require you to purchase your first contract at 150 and will not split it smaller. Future add ons direct can be.

Be aware that the 150 can change too and that it could be higher next year.

Calculate carefully regarding blue card discounts. Will you eat at many of the restaurants offering a DVC discount? Quite a few also offer a comparable Disney Visa discount. If you have the Disney Visa, you may have nearly as much in discounts already as you'd get by the famous blue card since you can't get both on any specific purchase.

In the long run, I doubt you'll find the DVC discounts give you any notable benefit as opposed to saving a bundle by buying resale contracts instead.

Since you're planning on waiting 18 months you might as well just wait for Poly.

I have adult size kids and the 2 bathroom and multiple sleeping surfaces that AKL Kidani and BLT have are wonderful. Having 2 toilets is really important to us so the split bathrooms don't work well for us.

We started our DVC journey using studios but have now upgraded to 1 bedrooms that sleep 5 so the kids don't have to share a bed. Will probably move up to 2 bedrooms eventually.

It does depend. I have always gotten better discounts with my DVC because I don't buy a lot of things over $50 at one time in Disney. And, the dining places we tend to visit are better for DVC. Plus, my adult children who are no members do not have...or want a Disney visa...so DVC has worked out for them.

But, DVC is not the only way to get discounts, so in the end, people do need to evaluate it. IMO, the use at RIV and future resorts is much bigger benefit than the incidental benefits we get with Membership Extras...the blue card.

I will definitely evaluate the benefits, and as we just got back from a trip, it's fresh on my mind what and how much we buy. The lounge also seems like a huge perk because my hubby hates the midday heat and I know he would love having a place to cool off. I'll have to look into the Disney visa, but I've heard that you have to have like perfect credit score to get it and while we've been working hard to get ours up and we're in a much better position now, that one seems pretty hard to get. We're still a pretty new 'Disney family', as we just started going regularly since 2019 but since then we've been to WDW 3 times, DL once and a cruise once with another on the horizon, I feel like there's still so much to see and do that those discounts we would use. I just worry about having only resale and not any direct points, like we'll be missing out.

We won't know until it's announced whether it'll be part of the current Poly association similar to VGF and the BPK "resort studios" or separate like Copper Creek and Boulder Ridge, which have different expiration years.
