Hi everyone!

Have any of you stayed at the Villas at Island Club? Friends of DH and I are bidding on a 3 bed/2 bath condo for a week in January for this resort... They've invited us to go with them - they're even going to pay for the whole thing!! (Yay!) Problem for us is we've never stayed off site and we're a little hesitant about it.

I'm sure it will be fine -- I know, I know, we're spoiled with staying on site. And, we shouldn't be complaining about a semi-free trip to WDW, right?

Also -- are we crazy? The reason I ask is because we met this couple (they really are the sweetest...) we met them in the beginning of October... Are we crazy for travelling with these people we've only known a couple of months? From what we can tell, they're fantastic people - they even came over our house for Thanksgiving... It's a long story how we met, I don't really want to get into it, but it seems like we've known them forever. Let's just say that we are both dealing with a lot of grief right now and we thought a nice trip to sunny Orlando would do us some good.

Lastly, if we do go, there is no way that they'll let us pay for our share of the condo stay... So... does anyone have any suggestions as to a nice restaurant or dinner show we can take them to? Personally, DH and I LOVE the Hoop Dee Doo, but I don't think that's their cup of tea. I was thinking more along the lines of the California Grill, but I'm not sure. Or, maybe a fireworks cruise :boat: . Any suggestions would be great.

Okay, thanks for reading my babbling...

I have a room booked for 7 nights here. It's a 3 bedroom also. Where are your friends bidding at I would like to know!! I have been looking for reviews for this place also.

I have the rate of $108 a night. Please let me know how is was!

Island Club is okay. We stayed there once. We stayed recently at another place for the same amount and had 4BR and 3BA with MUCH newer and nicer facilities. I think his website was www.disneyuniversalcondo.com. We got it for 100/night and would stay there again and again.

We have stayed at the Villas at Island Club 2 years in a row in 2 different condos. The villas are very nice and very quiet, at least at the end of January the complex is quiet! It is about 10 minutes outside the park on the less busy side of 192 (west that is) and we really enjoyed it. The people that live/stay there are extremely friendly! We were able to get a 3 bedroom for $65 a night tax included both years. Can't beat the price for sure for 2 families sharing the costs!
Enjoy!

HOW are you getting the rooms so cheap...................I booked a 3 bedroom for $108... Help me out on this price....

I am Desperate. Just found out my Mother in Law has cancer and hubby will be flying to see her...so I need all the savings I can get.

Lisa0477,

You may want to check availability at Cypress Pointe for your dates. You can get a 3 bdrm. unit for 92.06 plus tax through Hotelkingdom.com and they get pretty good reviews. I can't seem to find any reviews on the Villas at Island Club on Trip Advisor, and it *seems* to me that they used to be listed on Hotelkingdom as well, but now the name of the resort coming up with that info seems to be "Island Hideaway" which I've never heard of before. Can someone check it out and confirm? Sorry to hear about your mother in law...our prayers and good wishes go out to your family.

**Edited to add, I just found a statement on Skyauction that the "Island Hideaway" is the former Island Club Resort and Spa.

lisa0477 - I just emailed you a reply, but for others, I have found that by going through the owner's that we get a great price! Check out owner's listings at greatrentals.com; VRBO.com, and A1vacations.com. It also helps that we go in the low rate season (Jan/Feb). Good Luck!

Thank you for those websites. I emailed close to 100 people I swear. I got a place at Windsor Hills. Just what I wanted. Found a lot of great deals.
I am very thankful! :cool1:
