Viggle App: Get rewards for watching television!

With the changes to one-point per minute and fewer ads but higher bonus on some of the featured shows, I was able to get 5,500 yesterday.

I noticed that the Today show is a featured show for today - nice to have a bonus opportunity in the morning. We leave the house at 7:05 so I was able to check in before we leave - so not only will I get the 3-hours for being checked in, I'll get the 300 bonus points - that more than makes up for cutting the per-minute points in half.

I had fewer repeat ads this morning than yesterday but enough to make it worth checking. I always scroll through each of the featured shows and when I go the whole way around without hitting an ad, then I stop and come back to it later.

that was the other thing i wondered, if you had to stay on the same show the whole time. i was wondering how people got 12k points in a day! :) i saw someone write about trivia and games, i guess the "games" were types of things like predictions who would win the grammys etc.

The last few pages in thread kind of explain that with the lack of ads, and points decreasing for 12 hour check-ins, it's really impossible to get 12,000 points anymore. That is a thing of the past. :sad1:

Like I said in my other post regarding trivia: It's the same with the games too. Trivia and games only show up when Viggle is doing a Live Play Along. They usually post this on FB/Twitter. You can also find out about this on the Featured Shows page.

Unless they changed the policy, it has been 10 minutes. But the catch is you have to be in for the full 10 minutes. There was an instance where I checked into another show during that 10 minute mark, so Viggle wouldn't give me the bonus points, because they said it needs to be a full 10 minutes. So I do 11 minutes now.

All my points have been rolling in, including bonus points. For those not seeing any points, Viggle could be on a delay in updating points. Sometimes it depends on what time zone you're in. I'm east coast....

Thanks, I'll have to try again and keep better records to make sure I get the bonus points.

I got about the same. :sad2: If I spend some extra time hitting ads, I might be able to hit 6,000 ish.....that may be the "new daily goal."

10 out of 17 Featured shows tonight are worth 300+ or more. :surfweb: Wonder if this will be permanent change, or if Viggle will slowly go back to 200+ point check ins when all this uproar dies down? Why else would they cut the check in points in half only to make it up with the bonus check ins? At that point they are not decreasing points, they are just moving them around...:confused3

Yea, it kind of takes your attention away from watching TV, which happened to me last night! I had my face in my phone most of the time. :rotfl2:

If you go to the check-in history page, it'll keep track of time for the shows you are checked into. Once it gets to 10 minutes, I count to 45 seconds, and then do my next check in. This guarantees that I will have been checked into the old show for 11 minutes. And this really helps keep the pace, especially if you need to do 5 shows in an hour!

That's a great tip! The last two days I've made a list of what shows are on in each hour and how many points, then I number them in the order I want to be sure to do them - like if it's a 1/2 hour show, make sure you get that during the 1/2 hour it's airing, or if it's a basketball game that starts at 9, I leave it to last since it can run over into the next hour. And if there are three shows that have varying points, I check in to the one with the most points first - then if something happens and I get distracted and am not able to check into the others, at least I've gotten the higher point value.

i use the same system as nzdisneymom, and it works, just make sure to be checked in for 11 min, and i have always gotten the points. check in the next morning and usually a few thousand from the day before show up. i was also happy to see the today show this morning! too many shows at one time sometimes you cant hit them all!

Ads are getting fewer and fewer..I joined last Monday and was able to get 2 BB gift cards and 3 foot locker gift cards...That was done with my iphone and my husband using his

Okay...what happened to the Starbucks gift cards??!!!! That is all I use my points for!! Guess Ill get the CVS card and get the starbucks card from the store. :-(

CVS typically doesn't allow customers to use gift cards to purchase other gift cards.

As for earning potential, it definitely has gotten much more difficult. I was home yesterday and did manage to get just over 11,000 points but today has been even tougher!

Ads certainly don't come easy anymore! But today I'm finding ads everywhere. Can't wait to post my point total tonight...:surfweb:

Oh boy, then I'll just have to hoard my points till Starbucks comes back! Check Viggle Twitter and they said they will be back soon.

Maybe thats my problem. I kind of expect the points to come up if I am only checked into them for 10 minutes or so and then check into something else. If they do not show up for a few hours I'll never be able to verify I got my points. Do you guys keep track of what you should be getting and check it the next morning?

Basically, if it is 400 bonus point show, and you check in for 10 or 11 minutes, you should get 410 or 411 points right?

Linda

Great points day. I had one account clear down to 10 after cashing out for Target, and now it is up to 3700 and I spent most of the day at the doctors office with youngest son. Turns out he is allergic to dust mites, so the $100 in Amazon cards that I had gotten are all gone, and have paid for mattress and pillow encasements. Dang it!

You don't get points for a show until that show is over. So you could check into 5 shows one hour, and not see any points for them for awhile. Points usually come in 5- 10 minutes after a show is over. But if points are on delay, you may not see them until the next day.

To answer your question, yes. You only get points for the time you are checked into a show.

I just read something kinda funny on Twitter. Viggle Support was answering why they went from 2 points down to 1 point for regular check-ins. They said the 2 points per minute was a promotional thing, and that the 1 point per minute was always the intention.

Wow, that's funny! :rotfl2: When I joined Viggle almost 3 months ago, I don't recall hearing anything about a promotion for regular check-in points. Usually when a company has a promotional offer or sale, they usually advertise it.

I'm thinking they just don't want to tell people that they are looking for ways to give less points. Or something like that. ;)

I'm not surprised at all.

Everything has it's 'gimmick' to appeal to the masses.

That's the way it is. ;)

Oh yea, I agree. Just like those "promotional" Amazon cards they had and never brought back....the $5 ones for something like 4,000 points. Drew a lot of people in, but never brought that deal back! ;)

You're right. I do appreciate your original post. Something is better than nothing so you did a good thing and should be thanked. :thumbsup2

Ooops, I think my second post may have come off wrong. I was really meaning to "dog" on Viggle for raising the cost of their Amazon cards. I didn't mean to poke at you or anything like that! Sometimes I post things and mean them to come off different then how it's taken! :badpc:

I'm just amused sometimes by how Viggle explains themselves!
