Views from GF--will we see the castle or fireworks?

Hello all,

We have booked a 2 bdrm suite at GF in the Sugarloaf Key building. The reservationist told me only that the room has a marina view.

Since we've never been to the GF, I have no idea what we'll see from this view (aside from the marina!)

Anyone been in a 2 bdrm suite in Sugarloaf? If we can't see the castle and/or fireworks from our balcony, is there somewhere on the resort we can go to see them?

You might get a glimpse of the fireworks by leaning out of the balcony and looking to the right. You definately will not have a view of the castle, since it is blocked by Conch Key. If you go to the marina area, right outside of Sugar Loaf, there are tables set up outside of Gasparilla's. There is a wonderful view from there.

Along this same line, is there ANY view of anything (besides animals!) from the AKL??? I know it's fairly remote.

You can book a pool view, and have a view of the pool complex, or book a standard view. The standard views are varied, to views of folliage, the parkinglot and some people have reported seeing billboards from Route 192. You have no view of a park or anything like that.

the savannah view at AKL is superb though - it's not a park, but it's pretty fantastic having animals living right outside your room

I was one of those who had a standard view of the buildings and billboards on 192 (they are quite a ways in the distance) - LOL!

The AKL savannah view is wonderful - very peaceful. However, the pool area and view is spectacular too. Very large and colorful. Either view would be outstanding.

Be aware that AKL has long, long hallways. If this is an issue for you, ask to be located closer to the main lobby.

I have a feeling that's what we'll end up with too. We are booked into the lowest cost rooms because we need 2 connecting (w/a door in between) rooms. We COULD squeeze into a deluxe, but just for comfort's sake, we are booking 2 rooms. While I HOPE for an upgrade, I have a feeling that because we need connecting, it won't be likely. If the discounts are good and available, I will probably at least voluntarily upgrade us to pool view. Are the parking lot view rooms any noisier????? Outside noise in hotels is a concern for me and I would love to get the quietest area possible.
