Viewing PTN and Pixar Fireworks on Same Night?

We will be visiting the parks on a Sunday night this month where Paint the Night is scheduled for 8:50 PM, and the Pixar Fireworks at 9:30. If we watch PTN from somewhere around Carthay Circle, then book it over to Disneyland, what kind of situation would we be looking at there? Would we even make it in to the park? Is it doable?

Not doable. It starts back by Paradise Pier, and will take 20+ mins to get to Carthay. It finishes just as fireworks are starting. Entering DL is a slow process when fireworks are starting.

Thanks for answering. I figured as much.

We went to an 8:45 PTN a few weeks ago, sat between the waterfall and the Carthay fountain (so nearer to the end than the beginning), and we could have gotten in for fireworks, no problem. We just left because we had a kid to get to bed.

I’d watch at Paradise Pier and then book it over (you can peel off from the parade route after Little Mermaid), and I think it’d be do-able as long as you hustle and you’re fine watching from mid-Main Street (which I think is great viewing).

Say, parade done at 9:10, 10 minutes to get out of the park, 10 minutes to get into DL (even if lines are long, it’s not first-time-entry heavy, so they move faster than in the morning). I’d do it.

When we saw the parade Sunday, it started at 8:50 from Paradise Pier It reached us (we were across from Little Mermaid) at 8:58pm. It was finished there at 918 or so. We went straight back to the hotel after (stayed at the Grand) and fireworks were going off before we got in the room. I wouldn't count on them being done in time for fireworks.

If the OP doesn't mind watching fireworks from the esplanade, this is probably doable, although that isn't the best place to view TF by any means. But all this depends on PTN starting on time, on the OP being able to get away from PTN easily without getting entangled in other people and moving quickly (and that is relative to the speed of the OP's group) to DL, getting through the turnstiles quickly (may or may not happen -- Murphy's Law tends to strike at times like these...), and getting at least beyond the flag pole to a clear spot on Main Street to see the projections on the buildings by the time the show starts. Yes, it can happen, but it will be so rushed and stressful. I like the idea of seeing TF and then heading for the second PTN. Much easier and much less stressful.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think about watching the parade near the beginning, then beating it out of DCA.

Good points. My group is all able bodied adults- no strollers, and we are familiar with the challenges of moving through crowds. A late PTN would be perfect, but there's only one performance the night we are there.

As long as you all are tall enough to view from a back row (makes for an easy getaway) and you have your escape route clearly planned out ahead of time, you should be able to make it. But know where you plan to be once you get to DL and make sure that everyone in your group knows so that you can meet at that place if you get split up. The good thing about the current fireworks show is that it doesn't require you to be up by the castle for good viewing. Main Street is really good as long as you can see the building facades clearly on both sides of the street.

Thanks- we will play it by ear- it's a Sunday night we're talking about- so if the crowds are bad, we won't even try. Main Street is all we're trying to get to- we loved watching the Disneyland Forever fireworks from there.

Well, it's not 100% impossible. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, I watch PTN from right in front of Carthay Circle, then headed over to DL, not necessarily to catch the fireworks, though I figured I'd watch if I could. I entered just as the show was starting (projections only that night though). If I had wanted to watch though I would have been at the very back of Main Street which isn't the greatest position. I had seen the fireworks the night before so it wasn't a big deal to me. I wouldn't plan my only viewing option around it.

This is from another thread (posted today, 5/2):

"So we did go down to DLR yesterday for the day. We arrived around 11am and left at close. Rode everything. :)

Paint the Night was at 8:50pm and Together Forever was 9:30. Once we were there, we got greedy, wondering if we could see both...

Talked to a few cast members and came up with a game plan of snagging a parade spot near the Little Mermaid ride (parade started near Paradise Garden), then trying to hightail it over to DL after the last float passed us. Parade started 10 min late so we had to walk *really* fast... but... we made it and saw both.

We waited an hour for the parade but zero time for the fireworks, we literally stopped moving 1 min before the fireworks started.

We though parade was ok but the fireworks were pretty magic. Glad we got to see both."

Thank you for sharing this! I haven't seen the thread you're quoting from. This sounds like a solid plan, and this guest made it even though the parade started late. If the dates are accurate, this happened on a Tuesday night, which probably was a lot less crowded than the Sunday night I'm contemplating. But it's good to know that if things line up just right, its possible to see PTN and TF on the same night.

Yeah, I think it's possible, just expect to be at the back of Main Street for Together Forever. It isn't the worst place anyway because of all the projections on the buildings.
