Is it worth paying the extra for a tower room view of MK at the Contemporary? Or my 10 year old enjoy WL or AKL instead?
I have not stayed at a deluxe resort in Disney before.

It's SOOOO Worth it!!! We stayed at the WL earlier this month and had a view of, well towards the MK. The caslte was covered by trees, BUT, we saw the fireworks almost every night. It was amazing. Especially the perimeter fireworks for the Halloween one. Awesome! If you get a room at the WL ask for castle view but closer to the lake. Then you'll be able to see the castle too!

For me, the view from your room can make or break the overall ambiance you'll feel while staying there. Some say it's not important, that they only sleep and shower at their hotel of choice. We like to soak up everything during our off time from the parks. There's nothing like looking out your window or stepping out onto a balcony and seeing Spaceship Earth (from an Epcot resort like the Dolphin) or the Castle from the Poly, WL, GF or Contemporary. JMHO ofcourse!

without a shadow of a doubt if you can afford it...DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

we stayed at CR tower room MK side and it was so unbeliveably awesome. View was incredible. DH & I stayed outside for quite some time and we went in June..Heat & humidity were obviously evident but we loved, loved the view.

for the $500 a nite I paid, I got everything I wanted.

and what do they always say about real estate

location,location,location.

do it once.
you will be so happy you did

MK view rooms are totally worth it. My family always stayed in a MK view room at the Contemperary on the highest floor possible. You can watch the fireworks from your room, you can see the water parade from your room, and if you stay up late enough you can see them moving all of the monorails to the storage area every night. And nothing wakes you up faster in the morning than being able to roll over and see Cinderella Castle.

My older ds was 12 when he stayed at AKL. It is now his favorite resort by far. Dh and I are both partial to it. WL is nice (had a waterview/fireworks view in July/August), but it doesn't do anything for us. I like to visit the CR for meals. Anyone can watch the fireworks from the viewing platform outside the shopping area. Last week, this area was nearly empty...despite a PACKED park.

In a word....YES!!!!!

We had LV/Castleview for our honeymoon at the GF and it was really cool watching WISHES from our balcony.

Yes it is worth it, if you get that view, however you can not book a Magic Kingdom view at the Contemporary, it is a request.

Tower views consist of Magic Kingdom and Bay Lake with MK being the most requested of course.

Ok, which side of the tower is the MK view (excuse my brain fart at the moment). The side that faces the parking lot/main enterance area, or the side that faces the lake area??

Actually, starting in 2006, you can now book a tower MK view. It's about $30 more a night. You also can book regular tower and request an MK view, but it will be more difficult from now on, since they actually have the MK view category.

I think at least once if you can, get a great room with a great view at one of the monorail resorts. Its one of those things that you have to try at least once. It is magical to watch the fireworks from your room, or wake up and feel like the MK is just steps away. :goodvibes

Just want to add that we stayed in the north wing standard view and had a view of the parking lot with a view of the castle and fireworks at night without having to spend the extra money. We had a awesome rate and enjoyed our room and view. We would love to stay in the tower. I definately like the view of the castle.

3 things:

1. Is this trip mainly for your DS? I can't imagine many 10 year olds that would care that much about an MK view (probably would be more concerned with what are we doing next....). Your DS may be more impressed with a Savannah view at the AKL.

2. Can you afford it? If you stay in the MK View room, would you be scrimping on other parts of your vacation that your family may enjoy more.

3. How much time will you spend in the room? We usually spend the afternoons in our room to rest/shower, but we are practically never in our room when fireworks would be going off. So, yes the view would be nice, but to us, it would be kind of a waste of money for the small amount of time we are there.

For us, YES! We love sitting on our balcony at night with a glass of wine and watching the castle change colors. Last trip we watched Wishes 3 nights in a row from our balcony.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your room number?

We had a fantastic room at the Grand Floridian in the Boco Chica. It was one of the dormer (attic) rooms. So we had an enclosed balcony, which felt nice and private. The view wasn't straight on, but we could see the castle and the Main street station. We used the balcony all the time. Watching the fireworks every night was awesome. Plus we got to see the water pageant go by too. At the end of the day seeing that beautiful castle all lit up was worth every penny!
Having seen the view of MK from California Grill in the Contemporary, I think the view from the rooms must be spectacular. From the restuarant we could even see the splashes from Splash Mountain! Contemporary must surely have the best view.

I wouldn't pay extra for a MK view at the CR. Remember that the MK view is also the parking lot view. The bay view is terrific. You can see the pool and the bay and the boats coming and going and the electric light parade and the sunrise. At any other resort, THAT would be the preferred view! :goodvibes

We stayed at WL, standard room with a nightly complete view of the fireworks. Our room number was 5054....awesome. The view on the ground was the service area, but we were never there during the day and at night, we could sit on the balcony or sit on the bed, shut off the lights and watch the show! :earsboy:

I would say if the money is not an issue for you then by all means it is WONDERFUL, however if it would mean giving up other things on the vacation I would say skip the view and spend the money elsewhere :earsboy:

We stayed at the CR last October and we booked a Tower Room MK View. One word - INCREDIBLE. From the balcony, which is a bit scary since we were up so high, you could hear the whistle from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. And Wishes at night with the music, just awesome.

CR isn't my resort of choice since decor and theming is BIG in my book but I have to say it was the BEST view we have ever had. When we stay at Poly I always book a Lagoon View and although the Castle is in front of us there's no comparing it to the Tower View at CR. You'll feel like you're in the park!

Have Fun!
