We're 8 days away from our return to WDW!!!! We did not take the video camera last year but are this time.

My question is what are the WDW "rules" regarding the video taping of shows. I assume the outdoor shows would be okay but am unsure about the indoor shows. Our video camera does NOT have a light on it.

ANy info will be appreciated!!!

Every attraction that prohibits recording will play an announcement before the start. Be sure to listen carefully. Some will prohibit taping altogether. Others simply state no cameras with an exterior lighting source.

90% of the attractions (if not more) CAN be taped. Star Tours should not be recorded. Alien Encounter did not allow taping, and "Stitch" will probably be the same. The rollercoasters will disallow it due to safety factor.

Most others are OK to videotape.

No they won't. I tape them every time I go. The only warnings are for hats, glasses, etc.

I have seen people told about it on Tower of Terror, it is not allowed. I have a friend who taped BTMRR. I wouldn't try it on Space Mountain or RocknRoll, you could easily lose it. I know the American Adventure makes an announcement that it is not allowed. I think Hall of Presidents is allowed.

I taped the full show of The Lion King Show and Beauty and the Beast - without problems.

Cover the red light on the camera. That is how I do it.

And I've read reports of people getting smacked in the head by other folks' camcorders when they lost their grip on ToT. But I'm sure YOU would never let that happen.

I have personally been in the middle of an attraction (Alien Encounter) when a CM literally had to stop the show because a guest did not heed the verbal warnings given. Gee, that was loads of fun for those of us who just wanted to enjoy ourselves.

bradyloganmom: You can tape just about every attraction. Listen to the announcements when you board and ask a CM if you need clarification. Regardless of what others might say, please don't put yourself and other guests at risk of embarassment or physical harm by disregarding the warnings.

I've twice been in situations on POTC where the show was stopped for videocamera lights; on one occasion the CM went so far as to describe the person's clothing and position in the boat in order to make it plain that he could see the camera (and the LIGHT on it) quite clearly.

LOL, the funny thing is, regardless how powerful a personal video light is, all it does (in the case of POTC) is just bugging other riders. The power of those personal video cam light are not powerful enough to actually light the objects properly.

Well we went to the Wolrd for the first time back in April. It was our honeymoon and we had the Mickey Groom hat and Minne Ear headband on.

I did the video and filmed eveyrthing. I filmed the indiana Jones Stunt show, Big Lot Tour, Great movie ride, Splash, TOT (it was funny cause after the ride where you exit and see your video, you could see me with the video camera  ) I did POC but on the 2nd day back to the MK I had the video, but did not record and "GOD" came over the speaker and stopped the ride. If your camera has night vidsion use that. The main thing is the external light. They don't want you to distract any others from their experience.

I was going to do RNR, but that take off was so great I am glad I put up my camera. The safari I know you can do. But just listen and respect what they say. Maybe they didn't say anything about me filming becasue I was on my Disneymoon.

Before an attraction or a show, they will tell you the rules of using your camera.

Unfortunately, people do not always listen to the announcements before shows and attractions. I could swear that the announcement prior to Fantasmic! says NO flash photography (in several languages), but there were plenty of flashes going off that night.

For some reason, I think that you are probably not supposed to videotape or take pictures on fast moving rides (RNRC, BTMRR...). Whether or not there is a verbal warning before you enter the ride, I don't know. But every theme park I've been to has strict guidelines about photos and videotaping roller coasters.

I was going to take non-flash photos during POC (I even asked the CM as I boarded) but the voice of God came over the speaker about no flash photography. It was kinda funny because I looked up and said "My flash is off!", as if that would matter  . I think the LCD screen on the back of the camera is what caused the ruckus. Was I going to get good pictures? No. But I wanted to try anyway, oh well.

Look at that! I'm in the teens! :earseek:

We have taped several things in night vision. The quality just isn't that good. We never watch them. No more taping for us.

I've been hit by a flying camera on ToT. It was a big burly guy with the strap secured around his hand multiple times, so ANYONE can lose their grip on it. Please consider other people when you do this, as no matter how good your grip is, you could lose it and hurt someone, even your own family members sitting around you. (Mine was a stranger, but he could have easily hit his own daughter sitting right in front of me.)
