VideoNow?

I'm thinking of buying a VideoNow Jr. player and a couple discs for my three year old for the plane ride (and for downtime at the airport, bus, hotel, etc). Does anyone have this? Would you recommend it or no? Also, do you think I would have to buy the earphones, too, for the plane or would it not bother the other passengers. I don't know how loud it is.

Thanks for any info. :)

We got one of these for my Ds last Christmas- he was 2, but is 3 now. I think we will be taking our DVD player instead. It plays more things. The VideoNow does have volume control, though. The main problems we have had are that the batteries run out quickly- though they should last the flight. We also get an ! on the screen showing that something is wrong, but we aren't sure what. It does skip some and DS has not dropped it that we know of, so not sure what happened there. Lastly, this may just be my child, but he acts really strange when he has it. He will get really made and start screaming for which shows he wants to watch on it. HE'll change his mind several times and just scream. This is in no way normal for him. He watches the small DVD player we have all the time and never has these tantrums. My only concern is that it sould be due to the small picture and the video. I know some kids have issues with Video games and, although it's not a game, the graphics may be close and it freaks him out. My opinion is to just use a portable DVD as they are much cheaper than they used to be. Plus, for the price of the VideoNow and 3-4 discs, you can get one and the screen is bigger and you can play so much more. VideoNow has their owns discs that you can't use anywhere else.

We have this for my ds2, and love it. We use this a lot more than our portable dvd player/ It is small enough to fit in a diaper bag or backpack. It is light weight and the right sizw for little kids. It does have a volume control. We keep our in the diaper bag and have used it everywhere. In a restaurant waiting for food, while traveling. Waiting in the dr's office. We will be bring ours when we go next month. I plan on using it if my son gets restless while waiting in lines or waiting for shows to start. My only complaint is that there are not my different shows for it. Thank goodness the Wiggles and Dora are my son's favorite! :flower:

we looked at these but the cost was much more (when you looked at the discs) than a portable dvd player. we got a much better deal on buying a portable dvd player thats designed to hang on the seat of the car (it came with a second screen so both kids could see it) for less than $150.00. we bought inexpensive headphones which we take along with us. in fact i went to walmart today and bought several dvd's for 5.50 each that i will pack away and unveil on our plane trip to wdw in november.

Both our kids wanted and got these for Christmas last year. Bought all the accessories, discs, etc. and they hardly ever used them. They were a big hit just after Christmas but noe they just sit collecting dust. We fly jet blue so they have tvs on the seat backs so we didn't bring them on the plane. We did bring their Leapsters and they did play with them on the plane and waiting in the airport. They got those for Christmas also and they get tons of use but my kids are older. They were 4 &7 last year when we bought them.
Good luck with your decision.

Forgot to say we used rechargeable batteries in the video nows and that saved us! They go through batteries fast. HTH. Chris.
