Were you thankful that you brought your videocamera with you or were you annoyed with it lugging it around?

On our last trip, we were in the parks for 5 days. We only took the video camera along on 2 days because we didn't want to lug it around the ENTIRE time. We got enough video so it worked well.

We do have a smaller/lighter digital video camera now though so we may take it along everyday on the next trip.

On our honeymoon, DH and I didn't bring our video camera, but we will be bringing it this year when we take the girls. My Father In Law will be going with us, and he will be using a wheelchair, so we have a place to hang it while we're walking around! We may not bring it into the parks EVERY day though. I think that if you can stand carrying it, it's a must with children!! :)

We looked at the video from our last visit which was 2 years ago and I'm so glad I had it. My kids were 4 and 2 at the time and they loved seeing themselves; I actually had tears in my eyes watching my 4 y.o. DD dance in the Lion King show at AKL.

We just got back a couple days ago from our Disney vacation. Definately take your camcorder. We got so much great footage our our 4 year old at the parks. They won't be little for long so it is great to get those special times on video. One of my favorite parts of our footage is the character dining that we did at the Crystal Palace, my son was so excited to see Pooh and friends that he was shaking! Definatley worth it!!

No, we brought our video camera. I also brought a backpack, so if my dh was tired of carrying it, I was able to put it in my bag.

YES!!! Bring your video camera. We take ours every time.
The first time we went, my dds were 7 & 5. Both of them were
picked to ride Dumbo with Mickey and Minnie!! As much fun as it is to have the pictures, it is much more fun for the girls to watch it on the video!!!!
But...If you decide to not take your video camera to the park with you everyday be sure to remove the film from the camera. That way if someone does decide to steal your camera at least you still have the film. Also...label each tape with a return address sticker. I also do that on all of my film roll canisters!!!

I agree with everyone to bring the camcorder. Just be sure you don't leave it on a ride (like I did at US/IOA two years ago)! Luckily a CM found it and had it waiting for me as I ran like a mad woman back to the ride half an hour later!

We've lost things too in the parks. Talk about Disney service! Not sure we would be so lucky elsewhere!

You know, I used to have one of those heavy movie cameras that you actually loaded a videotape into (like the ones that news crews carry around). I have film from one trip back around 1995. You see a lot of MGM (first day of that trip), then less of Epcot (none of WS) and very little of the MK. Basically at the MK, I rode the train around the park and filmed. I filmed Spectromagic and the camera went right into a locker. I look back at the hour of tape that I took and see very brief snippets of rides that are no longer around and I truly wish that I had filmed more of each of those rides. Now all I have are memories which are slowly disappearing.

I now have a new small digital handycam. Very lightweight and easy to carry around. Heck the tube of sunscreen completely full is about as heavy as my camera now. Let's just say my last trip in November was one heck of a camerafest. I took about 12 hours of film. I haven't even finished editing all of it yet (lack of time during holidays and Mardi Gras) but will probably end up with about 7 hours of tape in the end. Please, take the camera and film whatever you truly love as it probably won't be there forever.

I always take my video camera. I especially take it now that we have kids. I want them to have video of themselves when they were kids at Disney. I think it will be great for me and the wife also as we get older.

I would say take your camera, you will be glad you did.

We took ours for the first time this trip and regret the times we didn't.

Aside for rides we also filmed the kids after the rides and their reaction, walking up Main St, etc. They hammed it up for the camera and the tape is precious.

We just bought a new Sony Mini DV-HC20- (it weighs only 13oz.) for our April trip. Its 4"x3"x2"- will fit in a small fannypack. We stopped bringing ours along on trips because we didn't like carrying it but I really missed not having footage of the kids so we got this new one. Bring it but don't spend your whole trip behind it. Enjoy your trip!

:wave2: I took my video camera last trip. We went for Christmas. I missed alot by being behind the camera. It was nice for the kids memories, but I need to go again @ Christmas so I can enjoy it.::yes::

I am planning to bring mine in May. It is one of the small Sony Handycams. I'm also bringing my digital camera some days. I found some great bags at Ebags.com that can be used over the shoulder or as a fanny pack and both cameras fit.

I have always taken my video camera (along, in the same bag, with my still camera (which is actually bigger than the video camera). I definately think it's worth it. We love getting them out ever so often and watching them.

For those contemplating buying a new camera-check out Sony DCR-PC109. Weighs about a pound. Just came out today and it's great. Super Night Shot, and a lot more +++s.. I got mine on Ebay for $150 off. Check out http:\www.cdw.com too they have it for a lot less.

We always take our Sony Handycam. It is very small and lightweight, so it is no problem to have it around my neck or in my waist pack.
I have had memory problems since my late teens, so having the video is really a must for me. Otherwise I wouldn't remember much about our trips!
It is priceless being able to watch my daughter bouncing up and down singing along on It's a Small World, or watching my "too cool for you" 10 year old son giggling like crazy as he controls our Dumbo.
Those smiles I want to be able to see forever.

Oooo... that's the one I like:) I used to bring my camera (8mm) around to all the parks but since we started going a lot I stopped. I know if we get a camera that light I will use it a LOT. I love my old videos of my sisters only trip when I was 23 and my sis was 13. We had a great time. I have Horizons and the old Journey into your Immagination, the old Illuminations, S. in The Sky fireworks at MGM, old parades, Mr. Toads Wild Ride, etc.. Can't beat the old tapes. I need to burn them to DVD!
