Has anyone participated in the Dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon? If so, can you tell me whether purchasing the video is worth it? I'm wondering how much of the video is my family and how much of it is canned?

My wife and I did the swim with the dolphins a few years ago on a separate trip to the island and even though it was somewhat pricy I am glad I got it. You will not be the center of attention the whole time but you will see yourself. Your interaction with the dolphin will be on tape. I know its not a straight foreward answer but I hope it helps some. Of course it does ultimately come down to personal preference. We are taking kids on X-Mas cruise and plan to do the encounter including video.

WE purchased the Dolphin Encounter video. The kids have watched it over and over and over again. We went in October and the price for the video was $50.

Most people did purchase the video. You can watch the video first and see if you like it after the encounter or swim. I bet you buy it!!!!!

How long is the video? Does it take long to get it, or do you go back later in the day for it?

Thanks for the info. about the video.
I have a question about booking this excursion. Do y'all call ahead on the 60th day before your cruise? If so, does it ever get full? We will be on the 7 day Eastern. Do you still have time to check out the island and shop? Thanks for your help! :earsgirl:

WE did the dolphin encounter, not the swim so our video was about 10 minutes long. There is a group of 8-10 of you on the video. You will see each person touch the dolphin, kiss the dolphin, dance with the dolphin, feel the dolphin's teeth and hug the dolphin.

AS soon as the encounter was over, there is a gift shop where the video can be purchased. I think we waited about 20-25 minutes to purchase the video. We looked around the gift shop and looked out over the water in the back of the gift shop. It was well worth the wait.

I was on the Wonder, not the 7 day eastern cruise when we did this. I believe they have a dolphin encounter on the 7 day but cannot give you information about shopping afterwards. You do need to book this excursion 60 days out. It usually fills up very quickly. The swim seems to be more popular than the encounter. I have one child under 6 so we had to do the encounter. You have to be older (not sure of the age) to do the swim.

Hope that helps.
