Just took a look at it- as I said, not my cup of tea, but neither was the music.
It's just a 15 minute show, those that don't like it can just pass it by.
I didn't watch the whole video, since I'll see it live in a few weeks.
I would expect the show to be tweaked as they monitor crowd appeal. Really they need to skip the intros and open with something more amazing than ax throwing. The lumberjacks can be identified later throughout the show.
Wish I was going to be there instead of heading in for a knee replacement tomorrow, out of commission for some time ahead.
Can someone who is familiar with the Disney CM facial hair standards tell me if these performers are in compliance with them? I would have guessed that the MC in particular was out of compliance, but maybe more leeway is given to onstage performers?
Performers are exempt
And, these performers are not Disney CMs. They are employees of Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Shows, not of Disney. Although Disney could put it in their contract if they wanted to that the contractors were to adhere to Disney's grooming standards for its own employees. They might in some cases, but they certainly don't in this case.
If they are doing chainsaw carving they are going to have to keep people a decent distance back from the stage, lest wood dust and shavings find their way to little Jimmy and Suzy's eyes and they have yet another law suit on their hands.
Not to mention the noise in both Canada and the UK will be awful. Chainsaws aren't exactly quiet.
Reminds me of a country fair routine!
It's got everything you'd expect from Disney: an attractive, perky, female announcer; handsome, clean shaven lumberjacks; spacious sets; laughs and hijinks; and even a little bit of education thrown in.
That was 100% better than the Epcot show. <sad face>True, but even though they are contractors by being onstage they are still representing Disney in a sense.
I can't help but think what Disney would do if they put on a lumberjack show of their own. Browsing Youtube I think this lumberjack show from British Columbia seems a lot more "Disney" than these guys.
