Hi all,

Just for future reference.
I am buying 2 Filters for my Video Camera soon, these are a UV and Polarizing Filter.
As I didn't have these on my old Camera, I need a bit of help.

During some of the shows I filmed, I got alot of light glare especially from Fantasmic and Festival of The Lion King.

Shows I am going to record next time:

Fantasmic!
Festival of The Lion King
Beauty and The Beast
Indiana Jones Stunt Show
Lights, Motors, Action!
Backlot Tour
SpectroMagic Parade
Fireworks (Wishes, IllumiNations)
Kilimanjaro Safari
It's a Small World
Many more...

Plus other shows from Sea World:

Clyde and Seymore take Pirate Island
Blue Horizons
Shamu show
Plus others...

For anyone who has used these Filters which one do you recommend for these shows?

Many thanks,
Dan.

I am by no means an expert on video camera filters. I don't think I understand how a UV filter would help with glare. If anything, I think it would make it worse.

A polarizer would help with things like reflections off of water and metal surfaces, but you would lose a lot of light for the benefit. Both of those shows are relatively dark, so the loss of light would probably hurt your picture more than the glare reduction would help.

I don't think a polarizer will help with glare off of metal. It will with glass and water.

Mark is right, any advantage you might gain will certainly be negated by the loss of a stop or two that the filter will impose.

Shoot with whatever the camcorder engineers designed and deal with whatever lens flair you get.
You might find that your new camera handles these situations better than the old one anyway.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.
