Victoria Osteen asked to leave flight

Well it certainly sounds like she was acting childish.
I would be highly ticked if I were on that plane. I also think it is bad PR for them and their work.

That being said.....
I don't think of being a christian as a behaviour. I know that Christians are supposed to emulate Christ but A huge part of being a Christian is admitting we are flawed beings.

Based on the information available, her behavior appears somewhat human to me. Of course, the paper could not corroborate accounts of the incident and relied on accounts published by another newspaper. No comment from the Osteen's and a cryptic comment from the airline.

Maybe Mrs. Osteen made a mountain out of a molehill and now so are some in the media. I wonder if this incident would receive any attention if the Osteen's were completely unknown?

They just don't strike me as honest, decent people.

There a little too mcuh like Jim and Tammy.

So, is there church closed on Christmas?

They just rub me the wrong way.

Why didn't they shoot her like they did that mentally ill man? She was trying to get into the cockpit; I would have assumed she was a terrorist.

I'm assuming A.) she had no weapon of any kind and B.) she didn't claim to have a bomb. Not to mention I'm sure it wasn't that hard to stop her from going into the cockpit (thus, the "attempted" part of attempted to go into the cockpit).

Well, if the pilot had shot her, I don't think that anyone could really blame him.

Wonder why she was trying to get in the cockpit? That goes beyond acting like a diva. It's strange.

me either
Who in the heck is Victoria Osteen?

probably no air marshalls on the flight. :confused3

Are pilots even armed? :confused3

If she was unarmed and not threatening to blow up the plane, then yeah, people could blame the pilots for shooting her, if they did.

Well, I wouldn't be for shooting her but --- What the heck would she want to go into the cockpit for? That just screams looney tunes to me. :confused3

Who is Victoria Osten? And if she wasn't threatening to blow the plane up and not brandishing a weapon, why would they shoot her?

She is the wife of the minister of one of the nation's largest churches, which is located in Houston. The church (Lakewood) is so large, they recently relocated to the old Compaq Center, which used to house the Houston Rockets.

They're televised nationally by the way. The son took over the pulpit from his now deceased father, who was very well-respected in Houston and I'm sure elsewhere as well.

Pilots have been authorized by law to be armed since 2002, after training and psychological evaluations. I don't know how many actually are armed. Maybe a tazer would have been more appropriate.

Here's a thought from a different perspective. I am married to a minister and from time to time, people think I have made a bad choice about this or that. They may not like my parenting, policies in my preschool program, etc. From time to time, I have to be sweet and take the heat, though I feel it is undeserved. From time to time, the other party trashes me and does not repeat the truth about the situation or me and I get smeared in the process. It rarely happens, but it hurts when it does because I'd like to think that people would say to themselves that surely with all they know about me, I didn't behave as the other person has said. My only defense is that I hope my character will defend me because I am in no position to defend myself without becoming a gossip or attacking the other person's character. While many ministers in the public eye have done bad things, others are just accused of petty things and the person taking the high road is at the mercy of others. Perhaps, perhaps, someone was looking to be in a headline and Victoria is taking the high road by not coming out and claiming the other person is a liar. Maybe she's better than that. Just a though anyway, form a different perspective.

By the way, if she's your pastor's wife, don't hang her for this. I'm sure there is more to this story. If it is all true and she was a beast, hopefully she has enough change in her pocket (Maxwell) to allow her to have a very off day. I'm sure she doesn't claim to be perfect and while every Christian should try to the fullest to bring glory to Christ, even in the hard times, we are human and sinners, thus the need for Christ in the first place.

Peace--

First of all, it would have made no sense to shoot her. :rolleyes1 . Next, I think it is unfortunate that this particular moment when she was apparently "less than charming" becomes a news story. What gets me is why the plane had to sit there for two hours :confused3
