Anyone know the current cost of a wine pairing with the Main Dining Room 7 course meal at V&A? All Ears says a wine pairing makes the total meal cost $250 ($185 meal + $65 wine pairing) but when I go here: http://victoria-alberts.com/pdf/winelistf.pdf
The last page says "wine pairing $105.00 per pairing". I'm quite confused, that's a huge price difference!

From memory, the wine pairing is ~50% of the cost of the meal. However, we haven't been in a couple of years so that might have changed.

I'm not sure why you'd think All Ears was more accurate than the V&A website.

The only real solution is to call V&A and inquire.

Entree range. Fixed price, 7-course $185 (pairing $250), 10-course $235 (pairing $340), Queen Victoria's Room $235 (pairing $340), Chef's Table $250 (pairing $355)
Summary.

My husband and I dined there in October and got the 10 course meal with wine pairings. We also added some items(we both got the Turbot and I got some white truffles - turbot was $35pp, and the truffles were about the same. DH also got the Australian Kobe for $55).

Our bill before gratuity was just over $1000. With tip we were around $1350.

To add the wine pairing is $150 as of January when we were there. That was for the 10-course in the Queen Victoria Room, so it potentially could be slightly less if you're getting the 7-course.

We are doing queen Victoria room on 3/21. I'm actually nervous. Isn't that silly? I want it to be perfect but I'm concerned after looking at the menu that they can sneak in some very expensive items with us just thinking they are part of the normal fare. How, politely, can you tell them not to upcharge you?

It's very clear on the menu what is and isn't an upcharge. If there's a price beside it, it's an upcharge. If not, it's included. The only thing that might not be clear is water - if you order bottled carbonated water it will be an upcharge and it may not be clear when they ask you what water you want if it is or not. I'm always clear that I want regular still water as I hate mineral or carbonated waters.

DH ordered the truffles, caviar, miyazaki beef and we both ordered the wine pairing. All of these were clearly labelled with price on the menu.

One time there were two different wine pairing choices at two different price points, clearly labelled, and we went with the more expensive because there were rare items on there that we knew we'd never find anywhere else. They also explained the difference between the two different prices and why before we even asked.

That is very helpful information. Thank you so much!

Don't be nervous. As a PP said, you'll clearly be able to see what's an additional charge/course and what isn't. The waiter will ask you if you'll be including any additional courses with your meal. Just say "no" and that'll be that. ENJOY! You're in for such a treat!

As others said... no worries. They won't slip anything into the bill. Not only that, they do not push anything at all, and definitely won't make you feel bad for not wanting to add anything. You'll have an amazing experience.

But... the turbot is truly amazing. If they have it when you're there, it's worth the upcharge!!
