Victoria & Albert's wine pairing price?

Wow... I couldn't even get flights to Rome for me and my husband for less than $2500 (total) RT for this October... let alone room, food, drinks and car rental for a week or so on top of that.

640 EA RT TAP Portugal - outstanding service. 2 x 2 seats. Great food AND wine. BOS > LIS > MIL FCO > LIS > BOS

So, I was referring to my flight; a room for a few nights ( we stayed in awesome hotels, October is off season but then was when we decided to go a few weeks earlier; hotel costs we astounding - we stayed in some truly amazing places )and the startling low cost of good food and GOOD wine in Italy.

Given a choice - I would fly to Italy - stay for two nights and have dinner for the same cost as a dinner in Disney World any day.

I find that the travel involved when the rate is very low is not the way I like to travel. :)

Nice if incorrect assumption and it begs the question, do you just enjoy spending money? I suppose you are partly correct - we did not fly first class. We flew coach in a row with 2 seats on a lovely airline.

Reminds me of a neighbor of my childhood home - she would always go to a certain luxury store (owned by one family; long since shuttered) to buy misc goods. Goods like cameras with brand names in boxes not to be confused with subjective items like shoes. She would willingly fork over 25 - 50 % more for the exact same model in the exact same box as a 'regular' store just so she could say she shopped at $%#@ store. Same camera; same model but she felt special.

What a strangely antagonistic reply. :confused3 Everyone's definition of "nice" is different. You do you. No need to be defensive about your travel preferences when someone else expresses theirs.

The V&A experience was worth every single penny we happily forked over for it. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

Seconded, after two separate visits, one in each dining room it's one of the few things that I almost feel like are remotely close to being worth what they cost considering the quality of ingredients, number of ingredients and amount of hours spent prepping and cooking all of these ingredients to perfection.

We just ate there in November and the wine pairing was $105 per person. We did the 7 course dinner and it was worth every single penny. The food was outstanding, but the atmosphere, the date night with my husband, etc. was what made the night extra special!

So, for grins and giggles, if two people ate at the chef's table, didn't "up charge" the food or add any wine paring or booze, the bill would be $500 for food plus whatever you do drink plus tip. Is that correct?

The wine pairing in That room is 150 pp it is delicious. They give you a 2 ounce pour at each course my husband and I wanted to learn about wine so we did it. We think it was worth it but would probably not do the wine pairings again. They will not up charge you for anything. It's a lovely romantic experience!!

It was a bucket list experience for me. I don't regret it all. So much fun!! Refined elegance for the night. Amazing food, lovely service.

I went last Sunday. It was supposed to be a once in a lifetime. I can't wait to go back.

I just grabbed a7pm reservation for the Queen Victoria Room on 9/11 which is my birthday! I'm so insanely excited, I don't know what to do with myself!!!!! :dancer:

Enjoy!!! We have done V&A a couple times for my birthday and it is just incredible. I personally really enjoy the wine pairing with my meal (although my favorite part may be the breads and butters that go with each course but I am a carb girl!!). If you like coffee I also highly recommend the coffee at V&A, the tea selection is also extensive and delicious, but the coffee is my favorite. I keep seeing your posts about your trip around the boards and it sounds pretty fantastic to me!

I have another question on the wines. If you are like me and cannot stand the taste of a reisling or a champaigne can you ask for a different kind or maybe a soda?

We did the wine pairing. I don't remember what the cost was, but I would encourage anyone to have it as part of the V&A experience. I'm really not much of an eater. I like simple foods and don't care too much about gourmet stuff. And I'm not really into wine, either. I'm a bourbon girl. But honestly all I remember about our V&A dinner is that the wines were unbelievably delicious. We've done a lot of Napa Valley stuff with my husband's work, and had a lot of wines around the world, because DH is into it, and nothing has been as good as those wines at V&A. Very special.

Somebody mentioned the turbot. I'd give a shout out for that as well. It's such a classic and isn't on many menus, so it's a nice chance to give it a try.

Whatever your selections, enjoy!
