I've booked cabin 8662 (7a - Aft) on the Dream for our Merrytime cruise. I'm super duper excited as it's our first merrytime cruise but I am a little concerned about the reviews about feeling the vibrations in the room. Anyone care to share their experience? Would love to hear some feedback

I don't have experience, but know from others' posts & reviews that the Fantasy has had a lot more issues with vibrations than has the Dream. You might want to check the reviews & make sure that the ones you're concerned about are for the Dream and not the Fantasy.

I always liked the vibrations. It is like having a magic fingers bed but you don't have to feed it quarters. Every night when the ship was running at high speed it softly vibrated me to sleep.:hyper::hyper:

Yeah, the typical vibration you can feel in the aft of a ship can "gently" soothe you to sleep. BUT, the "vibrating fingers"-type bed that you used to find in cheap motels was what the Fantasy had (at least on our 2014 cruises). Believe me, I was there. You couldn't sit on the bed, with your head against the headboard (reading, or watching TV) as it would just bounce around. And we often saw water glasses "dancing" off the tables in Animator's and Enchanted Garden.

Our recent Fantasy trip (after her drydock and after the post drydock issues), while our room this time wasn't so much in the back, so I can't report on that, there were no dancing water glasses in the dining rooms. There was a sort of gentle vibration that would work up to almost being at a frantic pace (but not particularly rough), and stop for 2 or 3 seconds before starting up again in our room, however.

I don't know if it was addressed or not during dry dock, or her subsequent repairs, but there was definitely a vibration when we were on the Fantasy last summer. We were at Palo, and had the Wave phone with us. I set the Wave phone, back down (the side with the belt clip so it was a lil propped up) on the table, and the phone danced around our table the whole time. I didn't have the same experience on the Dream, and we were in Palo there as well, with an aft room.

Agree with shmoo. We were on the Fantasy after dry dock and I would never ever book aft on the Fantasy again. I don't even know that I would ever book the Fantasy again. As far as I am concerned that ship is defective and disney has decided not to address it. The vibrations were awful and I love ship movement. It was like a child was continually shaking you in a really annoying way in the middle of the night to wake you up. And it just would not stop. We have always been forward on the dream and no problems.

Were you on her before or after her post-drydock problems?

We sailed forward on the Fantasy in December, but never felt any vibration in our stateroom (though we felt lots of ocean movement), so it's definitely not an issue in the forward section of the ship.

No, it was just in the aft. In 2014 we did a B2B and had different rooms for each cruise. The first leg we were in a room in the aft - really bad vibrations. The second leg we were more midship - still vibrations, but much less intense.

So, before the "propulsion issues" on the second cruise? Maybe it was addressed with that "fix". But the vibrations were not as bad on our cruise last week as they were on our cruises in 2014.

Maybe. But I really can't see us booking the fantasy again to find out. Too expensive to take a chance. Awful experience.

Never had a problem with vibration, but I do hate when the closet doors start rolling at night!!!

I've sailed 3 times on the Dream (just got off the ship a couple days ago) and always stayed aft, we could feel light vibrations from time to time but it didn't bother us. Sometimes when docking we would feel it more but it was never rough.

We were on the Dream in early June. We were in 8188, which is the aft-most room on the deck. I've been on about 20 cruises (this was only the second on DCL), and part of what I love about it is the gentle vibration. The vast majority of the time on the Dream all we had was the gentle vibration that puts me right to sleep. HOWEVER, whenever we docked, there was significant shaking. Not vibration, rough shaking, as in it knocked some clothes off the hangers and made everything out on the flat surfaces rattle loudly or fall off the flat surfaces. It usually lasted about 30-45 minutes. When it was at 6am, we just sighed and started our day early. But when it happened at 4am, it was frustrating. Luckily, the 5yo didn't wake all the way up. We were on a double-dip of Castaway Cay, so one night we knew we were going to be woken up early with the rattling, and we did. My DH wondered what that rattling would have been on the Richter scale. I will say that we were cruising with some weather, so perhaps the weather exacerbated the problem. Also, perhaps being the aft-most room didn't help. We loved that stateroom, so I don't know if we would avoid it in the future, but it's something to know about.

We had the same experience in 8188 on the Dream in 2012, on a double dip. The vibration pulling into port was like nothing we've ever experienced.

We've since sailed 4 times in 8188 on the Fantasy, and haven't experienced that level of vibration. We have experienced vibration, but it's a more a continued muted vibrating.

We sailed on the Wonder just a few weeks ago, and we were in one of the accessible staterooms aft on the 7th deck. I had very little trouble with the vibrations, but my husband was miserable. He was not even able to enjoy dinner at Tiana's because of the vibrations. The chandeliers were shaking. We are limited in our choices when we book because we require the accessible rooms, but I doubt I'll ever book one of the aft rooms again.

I have stayed in cabin 8662 on both the Dream and the Fantasy before it went into dry dock. The vibrations in the cabin were VERY noticeable on the Fantasy, mainly when we were traveling at a faster speed. When the ship slowed down, so did the vibrations (thankfully)! Cabin 8662 on the Dream does not have the same vibration problems as 8662 on the Fantasy. We will continue to book cabin 8662 on the Dream.

We stayed in 8662 on the Dream last April and had no issues. But, I am now getting concerned about the aft room (8684) we booked on the Fantasy for next November. I really wanted the views from the very back of the ship, but reading some of these replies is making me second guess my choice. :confused3
