Vibram Five Fingers Shoes

I wouldn't wear them for anything but running--
I mean, I know my Birkis have always been thought of as unattractive and I own a pair of crocs but I wouldn't wear them *around*. They strictly be for running. I'm hoping to try a pair on this weekend!

Never heard of em and never saw them. Odd looking!

I'm positive I wouldnt wear them.
Whoa. Me neither. But then, I don't run.

*TOTALLY* not a runner... not sure I even remember how, LOL... but these look like they might work as an "aqua sock" type shoe. Anybody know? I've never been able to find a water shoe that I've been happy with. I've had the tight-fight Nikes, I've had Teva strapped sandals, I've tried plain flip flops. I don't care what the things look like, I'd just like to have a pair of water shoes that don't hold so much water I can't lift my foot or that are so loose that they fill with sand and rub my feet raw. If these won't work... any recommendations for other brands I might try?

My son uses them for hiking, river wandering, he wore them at the beach and in the surf but did have issues with the sand getting in and irritating his feet although I think with the beach that is the nature of the beast. He wears his to water parks as well as shopping and all day at work. He pretty much wears them anywhere and everywhere.

hmmm I bet my sons would like these for the same. I think I'll show them and see if they might appeal for the beach and water.:confused3

I think I'll go try some on. I don't really care what they cost - I've spent tons over the years, trying to get something that I don't hate. That's how desperate I am to find good beach shoes - I just want to not hate them. I want to go on excursions and such and not be missing the moments because all I can think about is how much my I hate my footwear. Worst case scenario, twenty years from now I can pull them out and make my grandchildren laugh. :-)

a couple of people at work have them and LOVE them.:thumbsup2

My coworker (he's 59, NOT an athlete in any way shape or form) wears them. He likes all things bizarre. He wears them in on casual Friday with his Dockers. He has black pair and a brown pair. They look like he's wearing socks to work. He says he likes the way they feel.

I bought some of the socks for running as they claim to avoid calluses, etc. They work

DS is tall and thin with big feet. His big sister told him it looks like he has flippers instead of feet with the Vibrams on. This is the same girl who told him, when he bought his black converse hightops, that if they were red he could pass for Ronald McDonald.;)

He loves them. As I said in a previous post, he runs and also works out in them. I too would recommend going to the store to try them on. His were note true to size and the soles are a bit different on different styles.
He had trouble with the first pair he bought. The material had pulled loose from the sole after a couple of days. He took them back to Abadabbas and exchanged them. Hasn't had a problem since. I believe he paid about $100 for them.
