Via Napoli....well.........

The Service was top level and the salad very good, but thats about it. Was there last Friday night and had the Pepperoni Wood fired Pizza. Was expecting something a lot better then what we got,especially at $27 for a "large ". The water they say that makes it different really doesn't, and can say 3 weeks before had a much better wood fired pizza in State College, PA of all places.

not sure if we are planning on trying this in movember while there or not. we love the pizza at the boardwalk so we will probablly go there instead. love bein gon the boardwalk and you can eat good pizza and people watch two of my favorite things to do.

can you buy just a slice of pizza at the new place?

We have ADR's for VN on Halloween. Everyone so far is just discussing the pizza. Has anyone tried anything else on the menu? It would be a big help to know what people think. Thanks.

sorry,no carry-out at Via Napoli. There was talk about maybe eventually doing a window,but as of now they don't have one.

I hate to hear that it wasn't what you thought it'd be. I am still pondering whether or not we should give it a try next May. I'm thinking it maybe a "no go" if the reviews don't get any better.

Although you are probably right I will wait to see a few more reviews before writing it off, no offense.

I find it next to impossible to find good pizza anywhere these days thanks to Domino’s and I was really hoping this would be good.

We went on last week and LOVED it! The soup was great and the pepperoni pizza was great. Being an Italian from South Philly growing up with good pizza this was good.

I thought the pizza was good . So good that I dropped our Chefs de France reservation for NYE and went with Via Napoli instead. Plus, the $27 pizza feeds TWO people not just one. It's actually cheaper to eat at Via Napoli than any other TS restaurant.

Just to add to my other post .We were 4 that ate the $27.00 pizza. 3 male adults & me. + we had soup. It was pleanty .

Normaly I wouldn't want to eat there either but we all said when we were walking out we wished we got seated there.

My DH had the spaghetti and meatballs. I thought it was just "eh". We also had the calamari which was really yummy.

I personally wouldn't mind the shared table but I assume you can ask for a private table when you check in.

Don't base it off of ONE review. Most reviews I have read have said very good things about the restaurant. The ones that have poor reviews usually are very open about the fact that it wasn't what they thought it would be. For example, they were used to the way that we pile on the ingredients here in the US, but this is not how it is done in Italy. So they didn't like it... because it wasn't what they were used to.

I do wonder about the OP though... what was it exactly that they didn't like?

My son lived in Italy last year (study abroad) and the pizza I am seeing pictured for Via Napoli looks very much as he describes real Italian pizza (and looks like the pictures he took of his food).

My opinion is based on the fact that it wasn't that good,especially the crust which is supposed to be the difference from "other pizzas" because of the water they are using. Granted its my opinion but I have had many types of Pizza 's across the U.S.A. including true Italian wood fire Pizza in New york city many times and this wasn't one of the better ones. Like I said The service was exceptional and salad very good. Everyone try it for them selves and see if it was worth the $27.

I ate there with my family during our last trip in August. My mom had the Minestrone which she liked very much. My niece and nephew shared the chicken parm with pasta on the side and both licked the plate clean.

I shared a Contadino Salad with my cousin and a Calamari pizza (individual) both we really enjoyed. The pizza was very thin, tasty and crisp (which coming from NY that is a MUST). The calamari was tender, not chewy and just the right amount of cheese and sauce.

My cousin's wife had an individual Quattro Formaggi (which she couldn't finish) and really enjoyed it also.

We left happy and full and made reservations for our October trip.
