We are owners at VGF and have secured a 1 week stay in a deluxe studio standard view. However, it is the 7 month window and I see that Poly has the same availability. We have yet to stay at either one. Help me decide please???? Is one bigger than the other, roomier for a family of 4, better transportation?

The deluxe studio is going to be the same size room. And when it comes to transportation both have the monorail system, which is the quickest for both resorts and you are looking at the same travel times. The Grand Floridian also has the added boat transportation but that takes longer and although enjoyable, is less efficient time wise. So as far accommodations and transportation is considered, you are looking at very similar opitions. I would choose based on which atmosphere you prefer. Since you own at the VGF, you will be able to get into this hotel in the future guaranteed and with the Poly you might not be able to since you don't own there. You may want to add this to your thoughts when you make your decision. Next time you want Poly, it could be booked at 7 months. Also remind yourself of the fact that you will make some other DVC member very happy by freeing up a week at the VGF! :)

One difference I can think of actually in the resorts would be the size and layout. With the Poly, you would have a little bit longer of a walk to the monorail than you will from the VGF. It isn't a long walk and wouldn't influence my decision but if you are traveling with any elderly people, you might want to refer to a resort map when making your final selection.

Hope this helps!

Actually, there is about 60 square feet of difference in the room sizes of the VGF and Poly studios, so that should definitely be a consideration with four of you!

Poly had 445 sq ft (much of the extra square feet are bathrooms tho), while VGF is 380 sq ft.

It's a hard choice.

Since poly isn't your home, why don't you try it just in case it's hard to get into when it's sold out? Just a thought ;)

I do think if you wish to try PVB, it would be a good time to do so before booking becomes difficult at 7 months. We are in the same boat, owning and staying regularly at VGF which is perfect for us, but trying PVB in January. Hoping it is a good experience.

Poly room is larger and has IMO a bit more usable storage

They both have boat transportation, and when the monorail is running normal schedule the boat goes from GF to Poly to MK. Plus at Poly you can choose to walk to T&T and take monorail to MK or EPCOT as well as Ferry.

With the Poly, you would have a little bit longer of a walk to the monorail than you will from the VGF.

I think walk is similar plus the option to walk to T&T.

Thanks Everyone for all the wonderful suggestions! We changed our reservation to the Polynesian. We actually have our first stay at the GF this November for a week. So we decided to just go ahead and stay for our March trip a week at the Poly before it gets sold out and hard to book at the 7 month window.
