VGF Direct Contracts Sold

We went on the tour today and the person giving the tour told us they sold almost $10M the first day and are selling almost half that daily since VGF2 hit the market.
Ok, I did a little math - $10M first day divided by say $197 (buy in price for 150 points) = approx. 50,761 points sold divide again by 150 average contract size = 338 contracts in the first day.
$5M per day since then divided by $197 = approx. 25,380 points per day divide again by 150 average contract size = 169 contracts per day.
Based on that math I should get the luggage since I bought on day 2 :)
1.8M points to sell divided by 25380 points sold per day = 70 +/- days to sell out.
I don’t doubt that sales are brisk - but not brisk enough to sell out in less than 3 months, so I’m thinking either your tour person rounded up, or things will moderate.

Well, that is a little terrifying. I guess I'd better be on the phone with MS first thing on Monday morning... lol.

Agree with you. I did the same math but assumed $207 per point for the sake of conservatism. Came out to 75 days to sell 1.8M points, with some very simplifying assumptions. I don't think the pace of purchases is sustainable for the rest of this month. However, the brisk first day (and first week) sales are supported by when reports of luggage being sold out happened, and how long it took to get revised contracts (my own experience & the comments by others here on the Disboards). I received contracts on day 1 as I spoke to my guide in the morning, then it took until end of day on day 5 to get revised contracts. I also wonder if DVC will see brisk business when it opens up to non-members, since the pool of purchasers is currently fairly limited.

All in all, I'm happy I bought 200 points, and now I am wondering if I should've gotten 300. :rotfl2:

Hope you get the luggage. I think there were people saying sometime on day 2 that the luggage was sold out. I think sales will slow down a bit. If it sells out that fast, they’ll probably flip another GF building in no time.

For those getting concerned over a guide giving figures that a resort will sell out in less than a year you may want to take a look back at a poll I did on BLT. Guides had been telling buyers that the sales and interest were so high it would sell out to members and wouldn't even make it to the general public. Then it was going to sell out in less than a year.

What did it do? Sales started in late Sept 2008. Guides were swamped. Then? June 2011 they made the final declaration and pretty much stopped marketing it however it didn't reach the sales % of "sold out" until a few months into 2012. From less than 3 months sell out from the guides to more than 3 years. BLT was a highly anticipated resort and the first DVC on the monorail.

Something a little more similar is likely or else the announcement next week is the conversion of a second building at GF with all of BWI to follow. :teeth:

Oh I really hope that happens! Love BWI :D And if they convert Yacht Club, well, I'll just deposit every paycheck to DVD directly...

BLT was launched in a recession and has a lot more points than VGF2 has. Also there are a lot more members now than pre BLT. Now we have all the BLT, VGF1, PVB, CCV, RIV, VGC and AUL members. I’m not saying it’s going to sell out in 70 days, but it is not going to be 3 years. BLT has 5.7 million points. VGF2 is 1.8 million that is about 1/3 the size. So if they sell at BLT pace it is 1 year, if it sells faster, it seems they will, they will be gone in less than a year.

Announcement next week? What are you referring to?

The point - "Timeshare sales person said......."

Nowhere did I state a prediction of 3 years to sell out. I haven't attempted any sort of calculation but off the top of my head 18-24 months barring more economic pain which wouldn't be a stretch to see. There is currently RIV and Aulani selling and DL Tower is announced for people to wait for. It's actually aligning a lot like 2008-2010.

Nowhere did I state that you predicted it would take 3 years to sell out. I pointed out that VGF2 is 1/3 the size of BLT and will most likely sell out in less than a year.

I’m looking to visit a Vgf2 room tomorrow as I’ve seen some of you have. Can I just show up or did you schedule something? Thanks!

I stopped by the DVC desk in the hotel I was staying in and asked them to schedule me a tour/ride over to the Grand Floridian. If you have a car I imagine you can just drop in.

I went over to have a drink at Enchanted Rose and stopped at the DVC desk in the Villas first and she walked me over to see them. Did not make an appointment

I'd recommend scheduling something if your plan is to drive to the resort. If you are already visiting GF by via other means (such as Disney transportation), you can just stop by.

Thanks everyone. We’re staying at BWV but were hoping to stop off at GF first to tour the villas before checking In at BWV. Sounds like we should be able to just stop over. If we wanted to schedule just in case, who should we call? Stopping at Enchanted Rose sounds like a great plan!

Call your guide or the number for sales. I'm sure either would be happy to schedule something for you.
