Surprised the DW on Valentines Day by changing our Sept ressie from BLT to VGF!! She is so excited about spending 4 nights at VGF in a 1 BR/S. She has always wanted to stay at the GF, but we could never afford the cost while raising a family. Well now thanks to our modest DVC membership and one-time use points (best perk ever!!), we can enjoy another great resort and not feel undue financial stress. MS was great when booking the VGF using one-time use points.
Interestingly, our original travel plans started out as 7 nights 1 BR at VB. That slowly morphed over the year to finally just 3 nights VB Inn OV and 4 nights VGF 1 BR/S. No AP for us this year (saving our 4 vouchers for retirement). We'll start using our NE+ tics and enjoy at least one day at MK and a water park. Trip is to designed to be a relaxing mode vs. park mode.
On a side note, using 'what if' simple rack rate prices, MF costs and one-time use point costs; we are now ahead with our DVC purchase in just 4 short years. The biggest gain however has been my improved stress level and the strength of our relationship. DVC has been great for us (costly yes, but well worth it).
P.S. - DW still got a rose!
