VGC resale vs DLT direct

Just to throw more fuel on the FOMO fire, while VGC has the best location now, if Disneyland Forward comes to fruition, the DLT will have direct access to both Disneyland and DCA. Unless you're a purist like David from Fresh Baked and insist the only way to enter the park is via Main Street.

Another blue card "perk" I haven't seen mentioned is $20 off Magic Keys. Okay, it's not worth paying direct vs resale to get the benefit, buy maybe they'll up the discount when DLT goes on sale to entice buyers.

I honestly think the pricing for DLT will be close to whatever RIV and Aulani are at the time that sales are opened, along with a RIV like point chart. I suppose we'll have a better idea of their plans for pricing when VGF2 goes on sale in a few months. If that goes on sale well above RIV pricing, then there's no doubt DLT will too.

I love VGC, and I bought a resale contract last summer back when $200 seemed high to me. In a couple of years I'll be adding on at DLT, most likely laughing at how "little" I paid for VGC.

Oh but I absolutely wouldn’t spend thousands more on a DLT direct just to get a little nicer response at Aulani. Screw that. It’s how they get you.

I also would not sell the Grand Cal as I believe the location would be better but would certainly add on at DLT. However since your oldest is only 4 the extra 20 + years on DLT way be more value for you.
If only the Aulani CM's understood this at the time, we white card owners wouldn't felt like being treated as 2nd class citizens. It was just unpleasant to have to deal with it (politely argue) while you are in vacation mode just trying to check in, and oh, get laundry tokens.

Although everything worked out, I thought to my myself, if I only had the blue card and brought DVC in 2015 like I wanted to before, I wouldn't have to deal with this. Just regret not getting in (on resale) sooner before all the changes, but that's a whole another topic.

Great3

This is exactly how I felt. I'm on vacation and I don't really want to argue about parking or tokens. I was like I really like DLT so might as well buy 150 points so I don't have to deal with being treated like a 2nd class owner. Oh well its off topic but hopefully next time Aulani CM will be better informed.

I agree but with DLT selling out as soon as it opens. Might as well get the 150 points so I don't have to deal with that again. Idk its just so annoying

Thank you very much for everyone's input I really appreciate it.

Our 100pt VGC contract was sent to was sent to ROFR last night.

JackArchie---$259-$27294-100-VGC-Sep-0/20, 200/21, 100/22, 100/23- sent 9/9

Still hoping DLT opens below $250 I may not be able to resist the urge. I can always sell some of my Subsidized AUL points they maybe selling for much higher then. :P

I don't see that happening. I was the highest guess in the VGF thread (275), but I don't see DLT below 275. I think breaking 300 is possible, and I think the chart will be up there with VGC -- and likely to have the resale restriction. They aren't looking for great deal for you. They are looking to make money for Disney. It took decades to get this approved, and there's no foreseeable construction. RIV's relatively low pricing is skewing this pricing. VGF2/DLT are actually properties people want and will be priced accordingly.

Selling VGC to buy DLT makes zero sense to me. And you'd have to pay taxes on the money you made.

I totally agree with your estimate of $275/point for DLT. Why else would Disney raise VGC direct to $310/point when they basically don't sell it direct...raising the ceiling to make room for DLT.

If DLT opening price is anywhere near RIV/AUL I will be shocked. And thrilled. And then broke because I'll buy all the points. But I have a strong feeling it'll be above $250/point with an equally painful points chart.

Wouldn't VGF2 be priced the same as VGF direct current prices?

There's another option available to you that I don't believe has been discussed much...purchase VGC resale now (kuddos on the price!), and then buy DLH resale down the road. It'll give you a time to check out the tower after it opens without committing to buying a contract right away, then once they start hitting the resale market you'll know if you want it. We have 3 young kids and I can tell you that no amount of nostalgia at DLT can beat that short walk and the direct entrance at VGC 😂. Looking ahead, we know we'll need mainly 1/2/3 bedrooms and DLT has limited inventory, so we chose to purchase more VGC points. However, we also live in Norcal so I understand the appeal of owning at another DL DVC location!

This! If it opens below $250 I will be broke as well 😂

Thank you and to think I was second guessing my decision. I really wasn't planning on buying VGC unless its below $260. Buying DLT resale maybe a good idea too. With the abundance of studios in that tower there might be a slim chance rooms are available at 7 months? And your right nothing will beat the short walk from DCA and kids going straight to bed for naps

I agree with you, but I don't have to like it!

Ditto. I think they know the demand is there and will price accordingly.

I haven't been following closely lately, but that seems like an awesome price for a loaded contract. Congrats!
Thank you, hope it passes soon. I was actually just casually looking at VGC contracts because I was set on buying DLT when it opens. But when I got this deal even though its a different use year, I couldn’t pass it up!

LOL… I put in an offer (at asking price) for $340/pt for a VGC listing and the contract was already pending with multiple offers within an hour of the email blast being sent out.

I need to wake up earlier, hahah.

I guess I’ll just have to wait for the DLT to open at this point 😂

Anyone been to DLH lately and seen the construction going on? Are they still on pace to be done by 2023? The anticipation for DLT is going to be crazy by then. Congrats on your VGC contract. There's no feeling quite like owning VGC. I remember feeling like a kid again when I first booked VGC at 11mo using freshly loaded points. I'm hoping DLT to be at or below $250pp. But I wouldn't be surprised to see $275 or even $300 for reasons previously mentioned.
