Maybe you should ask your sales rep about the increase to the points per night on the 2010 point charts before purchasing. As a DVC member, we were told that the DVC resort point charts could never go up. Well guess what, they are trying to raise them...
The
point chart that was briefly posted then taken down was for 2010, but I am going to wait to get an official copy before I purchase.
Regarding the WDW resort changes, they aren't raising the WDW DVD charts they are reallocating them, which they have a right and an obligation to do to keep the resorts at maximum occupancy and our MF's low. While I think they botched the roll out of this change and it was a bit of a surprise at how wide spread it was, it isn't something that makes me rethink my membership. I'm more upset about the raising of the add on min to 100, that is a much bigger impact and deterrent IMHO.
When we initially purchased my guide did tell us the point charts could change but that the total points per resort couldn't increase (unless they opened up more inventory and sold more points). We didn't really go into the details at that time because we weren't trying to lock into a specific vacation pattern with this purchase, we appreciated the flexibility to vary our vacations as our family grew up. With this knowlege, though, I've made sure that my VGC points will work for me in various ways, trips with weekends, weekdays or a combinations, as well as 3 day, 4 day and greater trips, as well as studios, 1BRs, 2 BRs...
It does sound like some guides may not have been trained as well as others and may have given out incorrect information that was contradictory to the contract, hopefully DVC will look into this and either improve the training or better communicate certain policies, etc that could impact members in the future.
