I've seen lots of blueprint like drawings of the overall configuration and layout of BLT and other DVC resorts, but haven't found much like that for VGC. There was just an EXCELLENT thread started here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2212548 about BLT; has anyone found this type of overall layout info. for Grand Cal. anywhere?

I think TSMIII got his information for BLT off the Orange County Florida web site.

I haven't been able to find the same type of information for VGC on the Orange County California web site. I'm not sure anyone else has either.

Based on the 40-50 photos I've looked at and everything I've read the good news is it looks like all the DVC's will have either park view or pool view. In the pictures the DVC's are the in the wing on the right that forms a T, with both 3 bedroom villas being in the top of the T on the top 2 floors. This means no street view.

I"m still a little surprised they didn't increase park view points by a couple while decreasing pool view points. We will see if they get many complaints. Throw in the fact that the first two floors might not be able to see anything in the park you might end up with more complaints.

Does anyone like 1st floor units?

When Tim (the owner of DVCNews.com) and I met with the Imagineer for this article, he explained that Disney was spending alot of time, effort, and money heavily landscaping the area facing the park (at the rear of the shops and attractions) to make sure that the lower units on this side have a pleasant view. OF course the lower units on the north side will have a view of the expanded pool area, and should be nice.

First floor pool view will have direct access to the quiet pool, correct? Plus the main pool is only a few hundred feet farther away. Then the entrance to DCA another 100 feet away. Wow. Need a key for the balcony door so you can use that entry. :)

OK, about 85% sure here:

10 2-bedrooms face Grizzley Rapids.
13 2-bedrooms face the pool, of which 3 might have partial views of Grizzley Rapids.
25 2-bedrooms face the Lagoon/Boardwalk area of DCA

1 Grand Villa faces the pool, but the balcony will allow viewing of Grizzley Rapids as well.

1 Grand Villa faces the Lagoon/Boardwalk area of DCA and will allow viewing of Grizzley Rapids.

50 units total, correct?

Well, it's actually 48 units total - 2 GV, 23 2BR LO, 23 dedicated 2BR.

So, maybe, knock off 1 of the 2BRs facing the pool and 1 facing the Lagoon/Boardwalk area??

That might make some sense as there were 2 2BR units facing the Lagoon that I wasn't sure were actually units since they were on the ground floor and didn't look like units.

That would put us at

10 2-bedrooms face Grizzley Rapids.
13 2-bedrooms face the pool, of which 3 might have partial views of Grizzley Rapids.

I think there are fewer that face Grizzly River Rapids than you think. The units that face that direction on the section of the new building that connects to the main hotel are standard hotel rooms. (despite the fact that this section is often showcased in DVC marketing material). Most DVC units face the Paradise Pier section of DCA. about 35 % face the pool courtyard (looking north). and a relative few (due to the Grand Villas placement), face the Redwood Creek challenge trail (the end of the wing facing east).

An easy way to tell which sections of the addition are DVC units is looking for the tell-tale picture window that indicates the livingroom section of the 1/2 bedroom units. Any section that contains all balcony units will be standard hotel rooms.

I'm guessing SoCalKDG's "Grizzly River Rapids" units are the same as dwelty's "Redwood Creek challange trail" units.

SoCalKDG- I'm mostly getting your numbers, but are you sure it isn't 12 pool and 24 Lagoon/Boardwalk?

:confused3Where are the studio's located? there are studio's lsited on the points chart, where would they be? Seems to me everyone is going to want a park view room, I thought that was the reason and plan for adding this DVC portion. Thanks

All of the studios are part of 2-bedroom lockoffs; there are no dedicated studios. About half of the 2-bedrooms are dedicated (i.e. ONLY a 2 bedroom) and the other half are lock offs which can be booked as a studio and a 1-bedroom -or- a single 2-bedroom. All depends on if the door between them is "locked" or not. Hope that helps! As far as what view they are, I don't think there is any way of knowing until we see floor plans or they actually open the resort...

The photos seem to show 10 2 bedrooms facing GRR that are situated in between the two Grand Villas. I wasn't counting any of those standard hotel rooms that face the pool and GRR.

Based on % it looks to be 27% pool, 23% GRR(I decided to call the 1 Grand Villa a GRR view instead of pool since its at the end and looks out over both), and 50% pier section.

I believe that 4th and 5th level pool rooms might be able to see the DL fireworks over the roof of the Grand Californian hotel room wing on the opposite side.

Two rows of 5 2BDR's face the pool, plus three more units under the Grand Villas face the pool, thus 13 face the pool, I believe.

I must say, especially when you compare this to say, the Beach Club units, DVC ended up with the prime locations for units. The hotel rooms get approx. 1/4 facing pool GRR, 1/4 facing Lagoon/Boardwalk, and 1/2 facing the street/front entrance. Additionally those lagoon/boardwalk views are almost outside the park compared to the great views the DVC's will have.

Its like the DVC units were reason for this expansion with the hotel rooms being an afterthought.

Sweet! Make me even happier that I'm an owner. :goodvibes
Completely agree.

I won't even feel bad getting a pool view because I can watch the World of Color show and be back to my room in 5 minutes.
