Thank you everybody for sharing your experiences.

I know it is not a guarantee to get a room but wanted to see how successful people have been. I am looking forward to Aulani and staying there but we do frequent DL being from WA. This is also the reason why we are buying direct on our first contract. I like the flexibility that using points for DL Hotels provides. While not the best use of points it is a good fall back.

We will probably looking for a VGC resale in the future too

MukilteoSailor, we are in the same boat. As fellow Puget Sounders we have had the same questions running through our heads. As west coasters it makes sense that we would be more frequent visitors to DL. Just like you, my thought was that if I cant reserve at VGC, I will want to stay on site (even though I realize that is not a financially wise choice, rather purely emotional). Its one of the main reasons we went direct with our first purchase. I can see us at some point adding on points for VGC through resale.
However with our kids getting older, I can also see us heading to Florida more often.... and also to Hawaii as well.
But I really do look forward to at some point hearing "Welcome Home" at the VGC.
