Vets: best times to go between now and the end of the year?

We have had to move and have had a lot going on, but things are finally starting to settle down. We need to activate our APs by the end of year and are trying to figure out a good time?

Thoughts, experiences?

September is a really good time to go. Sometimes crowds are so low that they don't even turn on the FP machines.

It will pick up in October with all of the Halloween stuff, but the first part of November will be slow, up until the week of Thanksgiving. It will slow down again after Thanksgiving, and then it will slowly pick up in Deccember.

I'd probably vote for right after Thanksgiving. Low crowds, cooler weather, and Christmas theming. (Though I admit to being biased because Christmas at Disneyland is my absolute most favorite thing in the entire world. I look forward to it all year!)

Is there a certain time/theme you enjoy more at DLR (i.e halloween, christmas, regular)? The previous poster seemed to do a good job of pointing out the best times. It just depends on what you want to get out of the trip.

We love going the week before Thanksgiving. We love the Christmas decorations and have had low crowds during that time (especially on the weekdays). We are headed there this year from Nov. 14-17 :woohoo:

I have never been for Halloween or Christmas. My Husband used to go for Christmas when he was a kid.

Halloween is our 10 year dating anniversary and our daughter's second birthday is the first week of Dec. so.... We could do one of each, i just don't want to encounter the highest level crowds if possible.

Would any of you say there is a holiday week that rivals the peak of the summer?

How about hotel rooms? Any super expensive weeks I should stay away from?

Sorry I'm such a newbie one this, I've only ever been in the summer.

My experiences over the years are similar to a previous poster:

September
After Halloween: I notice that it starts to pick up a bit when Christmas season begins, usually around Veteran's Day
Week after Thanksgiving

Just my two cents! :)

We'll be there this week too! (and also the sat and sun after thanksgiving which I know will be packed!). I'm hoping it's not too crowded!! Woohoo!

Weekdays in October are probably OK, though a lot of schools have fall break. I've heard the Halloween night Halloween party is busy, but if you just got an AP you may be skipping the parties?

In December 2009, the second weekend of December, I believe it was, was great...weekdays were amazing and the weekend probably would've been busier but it rained! This year could be different since the Candlelight Processional is showing for what, 20 nights!?!

I found the days after Thanksgiving were not bad at all in 2011, and the week after Thanksgiving is short hours but low crowds. The days immediately preceding Thanksgiving are usually (but not always) reported as busy.

we have gone the past 2 years the week after thanksgiving and really enjoy it. cool weather, lighter crowds and magical christmas decorations! we are going again this year too :)

I agree with all the comments, but would throw in to avoid the Saturday that they tape the Christmas Parade as it is crazy. It is usually after Thanksgiving but before the 2
Nd week of December.
