This was the 1st God Bless America Ride that DH and I have participated in, but it has been held for the past 16 years. It raises money for the Veteran's hospital in Martinsburg, WV. What a wonderful cause!!!!
They put on a program once everyone arrived at the Veteran's hospital. I was brought to tears when a lady sang "Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood. There was a wheelchair bound vet in the 1st row. I totally lost it when he had tears running down his face while she was singing this song.
They have American flags that line the entrance to the property. The flags are donated by families that have lost a veteran. They are the flags that have covered their loved ones casket. During the program, a rider can donate their flag. I believe that next year I will donate my father's. It will definately involve more tears from me but what a wonderful way to honor my father.
Here are two pics. DH and I are in the group pic, we are wearing the do-rags. The other pic is just a SMALL portion of the motorcycles that were involved. I also added a link if anyone would like to read what the ride is all about.
