Okay, I'm quite upset!

November 2001, I booked a 7 night Eastern Caribbean cat 7 for two adults and one infant, insurance, no transfers or air in May 2003 at the rate of $3526.05. I was told blah blah blah early booking lowest rate.

While reading posts here I thought to myself, "gee I booked my trip 18 months in advance, (early booking savings) I wonder what the rate is up to now?" Thinking to myself about all the poor sapps who didn't book early, HAHA.

Now I know that there are some deals out there for Cat 11 and 12 last minute booking. I'm not aware of any deals for this cruise or this cat. That doesn't mean there aren't any. BUT............

When I get a quote online for the same cruise, same cat, same everything i get a quote of $3126.05. $400.00 less. It says only early Booking Savings.

Does anyone know why this is? Believe me I'll be calling tommorrow at 6AM. Has this happened to anyone else?

Call and have DCL re-check and reprice your cruise if necessary. They did adjust early booking savings rates for this fall and although I have not heard of any EBS adjustments for spring it's not impossible that they have done this.

Good luck! :)

A lot has happened in the travel industry over the past 9 months. What you booked was the lowest at the time. Now the price is lower. Don't be upset, be happy! You are going to save some money!
This is why people check their prices all the time. You never know when a new discount will be announced. Good Luck and I hope your price goes down even more before you go. :D

I guess the real reason I'm so mad is because I can't help thinking - What if I never checked? Maybe I should just have a glass of wine and go to bed. Thanks for bring me back down to earth. I act like they just got rid of early entry or something.... LOL

That is one major reason why I enjoyed booking my cash cruise with Dreams Unlimited. They will continue to check the rates for you and make any adjustments if DCL lowers their prices. They do all the work for you! :)

you should be able to get the adjustment. Call and explain how you noticed the price difference, and you should be able to get the situation corrected. good luck!

Okay I spoke to reservations today. Apparently the rate is lower then what I received as a 18 month advance booking. They adjusted my rate and said that there hasn't been alot of interest in the May 3-10 7 night eastern cruise. So against the norm they have lowered the rates on this cruise.

SO if your thinking about taking a 7 day cruise in May I would look at the May 3 sailing. It sounds like a less then full ship with good rates in all cat's. I'll creat a separate post for this.

Hoping that one of my 3 cruise reservations (category 6, 2 a/1c)have had a price decrease, I just checked them and found out all 3 have been increased -

Sep 28 - 7 night Western - $340.00 increase - booked in April 02;
Dec 12 - 7 night land/sea - $190.00 increase - booked in Nov '01;
and May 3 - 7 night Eastern - $176.00 - booked in June '02.

Maybe using a TA to make the reservations give a substantial decrease - go for it! And good luck!!!

Happy Sailing!

Last year when I book through DU they simply emailed the update and credited by credit card. What an awesome system, they saved me over $900 and I did nothing.

I asked this on another thread but here goes anyhow..
what if you booked via DVC paying half in points if the rate goes down do they refund the cash part? I was told if the points went down I would get an adjustment. Never thought to ask about the cash part.

The DVC cash rate is different than the DCL cash rate. The DVC rate is already discounted somewhat, so no additional discounts are available on that.

Hope I helped a little bit.

When you book through DVC Member Services using points and cash combined, the cash price is a prearranged contracted price between DCL and DVC. It is a bit less, but not as good as the Early Booking Discounts when you book all cash, without DVC.

When booking at MS, you will pay the $75 transaction fee and any cash portions in full at the time the reservation is made. Hope this helps! :)

oh well.... I kinda figured I was out of luck:(
