Very unhappy right now w/my airport

Understand not being happy, but this IS apparently necessary or they wouldn't be doing it. It's not a project, or a timing, taken lightly.

Frankly, though, I don't see how it's going to affect your already-scheduled outbound flight. There's nothing in the article about delays.

Can you fly out of Laguardia instead? I fly out of both depending on flight schedules, but will be using LGA for my next two trips.

This was announced last year, considering the age of the aiport and the amount of traffic it sees as well as the weather affecting the infrastructure I would rather my flight be delayed than have an incident for failure to maintain the runways.

Sorry, I didn't realize you had already purchased your ticket. I do have one flight that is going out of JFK in June it is an international flight so I couldn't use LGA, hopefully the construction will be finished by then.

The news in NY has a tendency to make everything out to be a lot worse than it is. The airlines have known about this for quite awhile now so hopefully they have planned accordingly.

i guess you're right i didn't think of that, thank you!!!
going into calm mode for now, thanks

Airports have runway construction closures all the time, it's not a big deal. So it might take an extra 5 or 10 minutes to takeoff. They usually update the arrival time on the schedules to take it into account.

not a fan of flying so no:headache:

I was giggling regarding posts that said what makes you think JFK with fewer runways will result in delays, the airlines will plan. Just don't make a tight connection (good advice at JFK any time) and you should be okay.

thank you!!
we have a 730pm flight non stop to MCO....

You may end up waiting longer for takeoff or circling the airport a bit longer before landing but unless there is another problem (such as weather) I don't see this causing too much of a delay to your flight. As you noted your flight is nonstop so you do not have to worry about connections. The airlines have known about this for awhile and it would not surprise me if they "padded the schedule" to account for the delays. That means even if you wait 30 minutes in line for takeoff that could already be accounted for in the schedule and you would still arrive on time.

If you are really that concerned you have two other airports to choose from.

Thank you, you make perfect sense, i am much calmer now!!!;)

We absolutely do not book flights that have to connect anywhere in NY--especially JFK. There are far too many delays for far too many reasons.

I was even booking flights on Delta once and the ticketing agent refused to book us into JFK--she said she would never connect there and would not book her passengers to connect there if there were ANY other options.
