Very under-wowed by TSMM

I LOVE the story rides as well, always a huge fan of the dark rides in general. That is what DL is to me, since you can find rollercoasters and thrill rides anywhere. It's the imagination put in to the rides there that make it so special!

That's exactly how I feel!

LilyTheBootQueen, we LOVE the Toy Story movies! I actually like the second one even better than the first. I just didn't really see much of the movie in the ride, but as I said, all I noticed were targets!

Over 200,000 points?! Wow! You guys are good. Does that seem fun, though? Because it just doesn't seem fun to me to keep firing at stuff.

Well my high score is 337,500, but we are addicted and highly competitive. :rotfl: If it wasn't a target I wouldn't know what it looked like. Although I have also ridden while only half playing and half taking the time to enjoy the other scenery, there are lots of toys along the way to see. The idea is that you are toys and doing something while Andy is away. You imagine wandering through the room and find some game to play. If you are a hidden Mickey fan try and look out for those .. there is one on each side of the balloon round and one in the drawing by andy at the very end by the high score. I have been told there are a few more but like I said unless it has a point value on it I'm not that concerned yet. Maybe when I get bored...

Personally I have mixed reviews about the ride only because it lacked story in the queue, which Disney normally does. I mean Mr. Potato Head was AMAZING but everywhere else felt like standing in line for a carnival ride. I love it when there is an experience like waiting in line for TOT or Indie.

I read stuff about TSMM when it was still being thought about and was pretty stoked about it because I'm a Pixar NUT. When it came to riding it this first time a couple of weeks ago I was expecting it to look differently on the inside. I know it is innovative how they created this video game experience (and I LOVED that part), but it seemed that it lacked in the environment once you get inside. There were toys in areas, but it didn't feel like Toy Story. Its almost as if they filled spots and walls with random 'kid-like' decoration.

With that being said, I loooooved the games ! They were so much fun. I especially love how interactive it is when you hit things and when they fly at you you can feel air being blown in your face! Very cool. I also loved how smooth the vehicles were when they spun around!

As for Buzz, I'm a big fan. I looooved it because it felt like you were inside his world and saw everything in his point of view. Right when you go inside and see all these wall decorations of the aliens and Zurg, you can kind of understand the importance of what Buzz does. Also, it doesn't hurt that you can email your picture to yourself !

Ahhh, DizMe! I wish I could have hung around longer so we could have rode together! I don't really care for video games either but I did Love TSMM! I think it would have been fun to ride with the girls! I'd take TSMM any day over spinning in those teacups! LOL!

Hey, D-luvr! I wish you could have gone with us, too!! I might have had a better appreciation, since you'd told me you'd really enjoyed the ride. Maybe you could have helped me see its finer qualities ;)

I posted our pic on the LGMH thread! How fun to have met up at DL!!

So here's my question. When do you all go ride Buzz to have NO wait? EVERYtime we've been there (and we went a LOT last year) we've gotten FP's, not because we really wanted to, because the lines were so long!

I don't know! Well, its not NO wait, but its like a 15 minute wait usually. We always go sporadically too, so its at a random time in the day. I guess its just luck ;)

So weird because we never see less than a 30 min. wait.....wait, maybe ONE time it was 15 or 20 but we didn't do it because the girls wanted to do Star Tours and that was 5 minutes. DBF and I normally do Buzz while the girls are riding SM using 4 FP's because it makes me sick. :) I still ride SM, just not every time. :)

We got just back from DL and we loved TSMM. It was so much fun. Except right when we got done the ride had trouble and had to shut down. I was just happy we go to finish.

when we were there on friday 10/10...we went straight to nemo and had about a 20 minute wait...then when we got off nemo, it was almost 9am...and WALKED RIGHT ON to Buzz!!!! when we got off, we could have walked right on again, but didn't....

We were there tooooo !!! We had to deal with issues with our tickets so we didn't get in until 10 so we went straight for Adventureland before we wouldn't be able to later in the day.

We've had luck with Buzz with no line during the morning hours. After that we usually see at least 20 minute waits.

We have seen it up to 45 minutes or so though, that of course was in early October last year.

To the OP, I was quite underwhelmed by Soarin' the first time I rode it. It had received so much hype from others that it couldn't possibly live up to it. It took me a couple of years and even skipping it on some visits before I finally found that I truly enjoyed it. I think this sort of thing can happen a lot.

And even if you never do quite get TSMM, that's okay. We all visit Disney for different reasons and find different attractions that we enjoy.
